4X4 You will move up in time, I am looking forward to all Wal Mart offers! that will finish my career and i will be really old when they kick me out!( I have young kids, but am not that young!) That is the only DC I know of, where are there others to apply to? (once I start applying?)

Luv, on the application site, it lists all the dc's in the US. What you have to look for is the ones that have opennings. It takes time for some to open up. Here in TX, plainview and new braunfels are 2 dcs that hardly ever have openings because a) they a lot of drivers, b) the drivers that are there stay for 20 plus years or more. Once you get in, after a year you can put in for a transfer to dc that may be closer to your home. We had 2 drivers just transfrer out to go back home to FL. Hope this info helps you out. G'night all!

Luv, Buckeye is the only DC to apply to in AZ (There is the grocery DC in Casa Grande, but they have very few dedicated drivers). However, it is one of the hardest to get into due to very low turnover and high transfers in from other DC's. When the time comes for you, check the Walmart site daily to see if Buckeye is hiring. A lot of guys will actually apply at Apple Valley CA to get their foot in the door, as Apple Valley hires fairly frequently. Then after a year you can transfer into Buckeye. When they posted the openings in Buckeye in August of last year, it was the first time they had hired in 6 years.

I know I will move up. Frankly, it doesn't bother me at all. If low to no seniority is the worst thing I have with this new job (I was the senior driver at my last job), then I am in heaven. This is a great job, and while not perfect, is one of the best truck driving jobs you can ever get. I plan on this being my last job also.

Tom, I spoke to hr in Toby on Tuesday afternoon, my background check came back and all was good. At that point we were just waiting on home office to sign off on me so I can have a formal offer. Today I got a call saying there is more paperwork to fill out regarding the background check, it is back and it is good but there is more to go with it. There are four of us all together at Toby that have this issue. Now rather then the originals they are emailing it to us to fill out and email back. Hr was very apologetic about all this and just to be patient this will work out, but it is frustrating at this point. You may want to check with your hr, you may have more to do.

Rob, my background check was all electronic & no paper documents to fill out. Kay/HR said I was the first at Sealy to do this new background check. When I log in to see the status it still says "In Process". I am ok with waiting, but if I do not hear back by Monday I will call to check the status.

Rob, to add to my last post, since I had just returned to my truck terminal and made the previous reply short, let me ask you the following to see how different or the same the background check you had to do differs from mine.

On Friday 7-26-13, I went to the 2nd interview, received conditional offer, sent to clinic to take a DOT physical and drug screen. When finished, I returned to the Sealy DC to see Kay/HR. See said I would need to submit to the background check. It is a new system Walmart is using and that I was the first to use the new system at Sealy. Kay had to create a "Candidate ID" on her computer. She then entered my name, address, Social Security number, and email address. Before she submitted it, she had me look on the computer screen and verify my information was correct. Once I confirmed it was correct, she submitted it. It generated an email that was sent to me. In the email, it contained a link that took me to a site where I entered my user ID and password contained in the email. Once at the site, I had to fill out 2 forms electronically, one to verify my Social Security number (done instantly) and another form to do the background check. On each form I had to use my finger on the computer screen to sign my name. Once both were complete, the main screen from this site I was on now showed both forms were submitted. It showed the status of the Social Security number verification as "Successfully Verified" and the other form for the background check as "In Process". It has stayed showing a status as "In Process" for the past 12 days.

Below is the link that takes you to the sign in page for the site I referred to above. Tell me if this is the same site you had to sign in to as well. If not, than maybe that is why you needed to fill out more paperwork, or maybe you did use this site but there was a problem with the form submitted. I really do not know for sure if there is a problem with my background check. I have not heard anything from Walmart since 7-26-13. I know Kay/HR at Sealy was hoping for an orientation date of 8-26-13, but in order for that to happen I will need to give my employer my 2 week notice by this Friday. Worst case, Kay/HR said the orientation would be bumped up 2 weeks to 9-9-13.

I sure hope they get everything sorted out for you guys. I can't believe how they changed the process so dramatically. I guess I really got lucky. I was the last to use the 'old' system, and can't understand why they would make such changes when they are saying how hard it is to find qualified drivers. Why would they need to make the process more difficult still? Wonder how many applicants will just walk away from it in the end? Well, hope you guys hang in there. It'll be worth it but I can certainly understand your frustration. The waiting sucked for ME, but MY wait wasn't as bad as yours now. Good luck Rob and Tom. Hang in there. I'm getting ready to leave the house for my 4 1/2 hour drive to work.

Thanks Jim. This delay is not a real big deal to me. I am still at my job anyway. This would not cause me to reconsider working here. :)

Drive safe Jim and have a great week! :)

From the things that have changed in just the short time since I was hired in Dec, it does not surprise me. Walmart Transportation is always trying to find ways to operate more efficiently. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn't.

    Kind of like Quintiq.

Just getting ready to start my new go out day, from realignment. Thurs start now, at noon. Have a great week guys !!!

I also have a Thurs out at noon, and was just offered a 6/3 with a noon start! I can't believe that one, thought I'd be waiting a lot longer for that! I'm happy as a tornado in a trailer park. The noon start really helps me for my commute, I don't have to leave home til about 6 am as opposed to my original start of 0800 (would have to leave about 0200). I got lucky there too, I expressed an interest in working nights and they offered me the noon start. Things are going pretty good for being so new still.
