They just posted some 6/2 and 6/3's at my DC. I was afraid to even try for one, but need to do that. They are trying to make it to where you can have some better days off, so are offering more of those shifts.

Good for you on the 6/3, that is a great shift.

It all depends on your location as to what programs are avilable. We currently have 132 drivers and 112 trucks. We just added two more to our fleet. They will be posted as full time trucks. (5/2). That is what I am aiming for. I have to see what the out come of the last three were in order to figure my chances on getting one.

As far as the background check, I hand signed a couple of forms. As 4x4 said, Wal~mart is always looking to do things more efficantly. Cutting back on some of the paper trail will help. Tom you will hear from the office soon enough. One has already come back so just you and another are being waited upon.

Jim, if they offered you a program, I suggest you take it. Not many locations have the luxuriy of doing that. Many drivers have waited 2 or more years for just a flex position to open up! Just goes to show that people don't leave here. Well tomorrow I will be rolling out on my day out at 1000. Be safe guys and will catch up soon.

Something odd occurred today that ended up shedding some light on what was going on with my background check. About 4:15pm, I received an automated email from Walmart's new "Associate Background Screening System", just like the email received 2 weeks ago when I first originated my electronic background check. It was asking me to log into the site and complete the background check forms....again. I had already done this on 7-26-13. Something didn't seem right, so I called Kay/HR in Sealy. I let her know what has occurred and she had mentioned how this new system has been riddled with glitches. She called the recruiting dept in Bentonville to find out what is going on. She called me back a few minutes later and told me my background check came back as "competitive", which I did not know what that meant, and Kay said it means my background check is clean. The problem with the new system is that the data from the background checks is not rolling over in the system, thus causing some issues.

As it stands now, Walmart if finalizing my file and will very likely be giving me my formal offer tomorrow. Kay/HR still wants to do the orientation on 8-26-13, so even with the delay getting the background check done, the time between now and orientation starting may end up only being just over 2 weeks, which is a shorter wait than many here experienced when they started. Overall, the waiting has not bothered me one bit. If anything, at times I have felt anxious to start with Walmart! :)

Nope. There were two sheets. One for the 6/2 shift which requires that you already have an assigned truck, and one for the 6/3 which does not require an assigned truck as 3 drivers will share one truck.

I doubt I will get it, but I did put my name on the sheet for the 6/3. Yes, it would give me 1.5 days less pay per month (the wife figured it out), but it would put me in a program which would open me up for more.

I don't even know if my DC offers a 5/2-5/3 rotation, frankly.

Tom, very cool........................ you are in the home stretch now !!!

Manuals only. I answered you in the other thread. Find a way to get in some practice and brush up on your skills.

Wow, really??? We don't have one. All are 10-speeds.

I drove an auto once. Man that was a miserable experience.

The problem is, for someone wanting to get a job here, the chances of them getting to drive an auto are slim to none. The DC is not going to accommodate a new driver who doesn't even have an assigned truck. If the DC has a couple of autos, it would be like Russian Roulette trying to get into one. Thus, if that is what you are good at driving, you are greatly limiting your chances of getting hired. I still think he needs to find a way to get some practice with a 10-speed, to increase his chances. It would be incredibly hard to get to the interview, make it through the face to face, do the pre-trip great, then lose out because you were rusty with a manual.

BTW, its Rick. Nice to meet you. LOL

Lol* shacks hand* same here:biggrin_2559: yeah one auto was one of those trial run hybred green petes. The other is a 13' freightliner. Personally I like manuals better. Better feel of control. Your right with the interview process as well. Driving an a manual for years, then to an auto for some time wouldn't be all that bad. Like riding a bike, you never forget. But since he has been on a auto since out of school, yeah practice is in order. I wish him the best in order to get on. Well just got done with dinner and I'm off to bed. Night!
