It took about a month to hear back from Walmart after I did my physical and drug screen. They are more than likely doing your criminal background check, getting all of your driving records, and verifying your employment with your previous employers. Just be patient. You'll hear from them!

Thanks drozzer....Yeah I think I'm going to take it plus the miles are high and I'll get into a new freightliner soon anyway. No Louisiana the trucks aren't nasty everyone here really keeps a really clean truck. The problem is You have to keep moving all of your stuff from truck to truck all week you may get lucky and actually keep a truck for a week once in a while.

take what you can get for now, there are a few guys who transferred in that will be getting their seniority back soon. They will be snatching stuff up then.

I don't know if you read the whole thread like I did before I got hired, but you can see guys come on the board, go through the process, get hired, and come back to relate stories. And I think to the driver, each one says that it's actually BETTER than they thought before getting hired. We all have an idea of what it's like before. But once you get hired on, man, you cannot believe how well you are treated. I can't speak for every job in the industry, but in 28 years behind the wheel, I've NEVER experienced anything like this before. And I had my own truck for 16 years before coming to the private fleet. I didn't treat myself this well!!! It's a life changer for the driver and his family and friends. Sorry for rambling on. Just my opinion.

    Bravo and well said !!!

I have my husband back. We spend quality time together as a family. Short of dealing with the driving public, which you have to do anywhere as a truck driver, this is really a no stress job. You really are Captain of your own ship. Do your job, be safe, and you will rarely hear from anyone except for when you go in to get your paperwork.

Rick has been here almost 2 1/2 years. We are planning a huge 2 week vacation in a few months. We have NEVER been able to do anything like this. We will be heading through Matt and Toms TX, through LA, MS and over to FL and back this way. We are even bringing our sons best friend. With the X job, we were lucky to be able to take a few days off.

It is a completely different culture that truly cannot be believed until you are on the inside. Good luck to you all, and if you get in, enjoy the ride !! :D

Great insight noninetofive. I have read a lot but not all. I currently have my own truck and couldn't pass up on a opportunity like walmart decided to apply once I found out they were hiring in my area and passed all tests now just waiting on final interview call. I def will be paying it forward with my experiences as I go.

Great to hear wallywife. The more I hear the better it keeps sounding. Always knew walmart was a good job but I think this is just a little taste of what it's really like.
