Anyone hear from Rob (kubotaman)? He has been MIA for 6 days. I hope he got his background check finalized too & set up for orientation.

 

Congratulations Tom! Bout time huh? That's awesome. I'm wondering about Rob too, so far I'm the first and only new hire of the 14 they needed, with about 38 retirements coming in the next year. Rob will be number 2. Should be interesting. They're using a lot of contractors lately, so they're getting the freight moved, no shortage of work. Anyone sitting on the fence about applying, worried about being an 'extra' driver, that doesn't mean anything! You are still eligible to bid for a program or a run (I just got a 6/3 with one month seniority), and you will NOT be sitting around waiting for a load! If you are thinking about applying, do it. You could always say no, but you probably won't. I can tell you that I actually enjoy the job, and I'm more busy than I have a right to be.

Again Tom, congrats, glad to hear the worst of the waiting is over, now you still have to wait for orientation LOL. Welcome aboard, officially.

 

Jim, thanks. Was worth the wait, which really wasn't too long in reality. I was on the phone with my wife when Kay called to tell me yesterday, so my wife got to hear it with me.

Matt, I will be ready to go at it soon. I will focus hard on retooling my mindset to Walmart. Maybe sometime soon the ROC will have a hard time keeping up with me! Ok, maybe not, but it sounded funny!

 

We have close to 175 drivers. It takes a long time to get your own truck here. Yes, a lot will be retiring in the next few years, but still. I am on the list for a 6/3. I know there are 2 trucks, but don't know if it is just filling empty spots or if they need to fill both completely (6 drivers). Quite a few people have taken their name off the list. Frankly, it doesn't bother me at all. I'm just tickled that I have this job.

 

Hey Tom, I am still waiting. My background is back and good and they finally just sent me the email to sign off on the credit check on Monday. There is a new HR manager at Toby whom I also spoke with Monday, he hopes to have me finished up by the end of this week. I learned quick that nothing happens fast with Wal-Mart. A few more days and I should be good to go. Congrats to you and with a little luck I will be joining you soon.

 

Glad to hear! I suppose the change in HR managers played a part in the delay, along with you and I being a part of a new background check system that my HR lady here does not like at all!!!
