My husband came from a tanker also, and had only hauled 53' trailers for 3 months 7 years prior to his testing. He did fine. Your sight lines are worse, and the trailer will not respond as quickly.

I know you guys can do it !!! There are a lot of X tanker drivers at Walmart. :)

    Never say never. :)

I wonder how many drivers would transfer from Sealy if the same change was ever made to replace outside carrier drivers with Walmart drivers at New Caney? Sealy is 78 miles and New Caney is 55 miles from my house, so not a huge difference in distance from where I live.

I do not know how good or bad a job US Xpress is currently doing at New Caney. CR England must have been doing a bad job or wanting too much money to haul out of Bartlesville, OK.

It's CR England. It was probably not as bad as most of us would imagine. Its more apparent that Bentonville figured it is good for the company to expand our fleet. Maybe in the distant future for New Caney it could happen. It all depends on numbers and business models that we don't understand.

Either way, its all good for us. The Private Fleet is here to stay!

Exactly... A trailer is a trailer if you mess up just adjust shoot man at our DC today I had to do three pull ups to put it in the hole tomorrow I'll get it in one shot every time. I blame it on the 550 miles LOL.

Maybe it is an experiment. They want actual numbers on Private Fleet handling all grocery vs. contracted carriers. The cost must be pretty close in both situations, or I don't think they would be doing this. Hope it works out and they change over at more grocery DCs. I've got my eye on the new one in Mankato, MN. It's only refer groceries for now and is set to go live very soon. It's a little farther commute for me, but I grew up down in that area and Mom and Dad still live down there. Would be nice to see them more often.

Well I've passed my phone interview. Just waiting on the phone call to schedule my pretrip and road test. I'm nervous about the pretrip but I'm sure most everybody was.
I've enjoyed reading this thread. A wealth of info on here. I've been with my current company 14 years but I'm looking forward to my new adventure with walmart. All my friends that were here with me have all gone to walmart. I'm the last one to leave. I can't wait to join the team.
