The wait will be worth it. I don't normally pat myself on the back but I'm pretty proud of myself. The wait will be worth it. All the drivers I talked to today all said how much they love their job. I have heard for a few years on how good of a job it is but how hard it is to get on there. I can't get the smile off my face.

That sucks sitting that long. I read on here on an earlier post to pick the earliest time possible to not run into that. So I did. I got a hotel and went the night before and that work really well. I'm with you on the ball of nerves and I never get nervous but this got me good.

    jtg80 Thanks this.

Never apologize for being excited !!! All of the drivers that have posted here have felt the same way. My husband told people for years before hiring on, that he was going to be a Walmart driver. This job is what he worked toward, and planned for. This is his last job, as I am sure most on this site have planned on also.

Nothing is perfect of course. If you could take away the general populace drivers, it would be close though. LOL :)

Keep updating the forum on your progress and thoughts. The first hand experience is invaluable to all those who are just thinking about making the change. Also, your experience at the DC is the norm, not the exception. Rick was so excited when he did his pretrip/driving test. He couldn't believe that all of these top flight drivers would just come up to him and chat with him and try to help him out. You just do not see that in trucking. That is how a happy fleet acts.

I just finished reading all 329 pages and there was alot of great information here. My husband and I both appreciate it. He is currently waiting on his background check. Today it went from In Progress to Pending. Does anyone know what that means?

drozzer69 and Line Hauler 101 Thank this.

    OMG..... OMG..... OMG.....!!!
At 1:40am central time I checked the website and it finally changed to COMPETITIVE!!!
My husband submitted his background check on 05/19 and it took a month to get an answer back.
This has been the longest, nerve breaking and stressing hiring process of our lives, but now every day of the waiting period has been worth it.
My husband is working right now and this morning he asked me not to telling him about any changes on the website while he's at work (I used to txt him every morning) because he said he didn't know how he was gonna react, so at this point I'm speechless, excited, so happy to the point that I broke into tears when I read the word COMPETITIVE.
This job means a lot for us as a family, but I know it means a lot to him as a driver because now he'll be working on a higher level, where his hard work will be appreciated, where he'll be happier, where he'll work with people that care and is willing to help others and where he'll have time to spend with us (his family) and not just come home beaten up, tired, upset, frustrated, in other words, looking like a zombie.
I'm so wired up that I'm not gonna be able to sleep now..... :biggrin_25518: :biggrin_25521:
I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everybody for all the information posted here, because when were feeling down (even tough I never showed him I was frustrated), I would find something on this thread that would makes us keep the faith up.
    Thank you God!!!

TomOfTx, StephRob, drozzer69 and 3 others Thank this.
