Congratulations trucker 1980! Your next step will be to meet with the safety manager at that DC take you out get in a truck find a trailer and how to do a pre trip after you hook up check everything like you normally would and just be detailed. Then the safety manager will drive you around the yard and find a single open spot between two trailers and have you back in don't forget GOAL. You get 5 pull ups to get it in. If that is successful you will go out to a road trip go over some railroad crossings and remember and you will treat railroad crossings like hazmat. If that goes good your GTM will give you a job offer and explain how you get paid in any questions you have if you say yes you go to HR and start the paperwork finalization and then wait to get a set up phone call from your HR for orientation which could be anywhere from 2 weeks to 8 weeks

Trucker 1980 the only question now for you is if you want the job after passing the pre trip and road trip. And yes you will go with the mentor I am a mentor and the only thing I do when I take out a new driver this show them paperwork DC procedures and OBC procedures.

Ok thanks. And yes id love to drive for walmart its been a dream of mine since i started driving 14 yrs ago cause i see first hand at the dc's and the stores how well there drivers are treated and respected. And ive talked to a few wm drivers and they all told me it was the best decision in there career they made to come drive for wm . Does everyone slip seat at walmart or do some have there assigned trucks. Id imagine youd have to be at wm for a very long time to get a assigned truck tho but idk . Ive seen a red 379 pete driving for walmart around the Arkansas area but i think if i read his truck wright it says he says 4 million miles with wm tho.

Yes I am a mentor myself. The only thing I do is go over paperwork DC procedures and OBC procedures only. A mentor is not there to train you how to drive because you're with Walmart and they already know you are a good driver. the only
Yes it is a very good decision best one I made. By far the easiest job and that's rewarding. Every DC is different depending on the equipment they have available we have had new drivers come right out of mentoring and go on a program where they have a rotating schedule and two or three assign trucks which is better than slip seating. Which is called extra bored. At my PC I was on the extra board for about a year and was able to get in an assigned truck. And I've heard of other guys that might not get in assigned truck for 6 years and as little as 6 months it all depends on ltrucks that are available retirements ETC. Yes 4000006 miles will get you to pick your own truck and color it's really a small truck is custom order blue but you picked the bells and whistles I'll be there a Freightliner or Peterbilt and maybe a Kenworth T 660

Sorry about that a blue truck is 3 million safe miles and you pick the bells and whistles from a standard Peterbilt for a Freightliner Cascadia
