Very good points I love Walmart been here one year I agree I'll be a fool to bounce and you know what it never across my mind because if she wants out I still have a home here and a solid future. And I can transfer to the south where I want to live anyway. Thanks

    Thanks Tom !!!

To expand on what Tom said..................... Our son is now 14-years-old. He goes with Rick every opportunity he has, for the whole week. He has a Private Fleet jacket, multiple hats, and the patches to go on his shirt, that I sewed on. When he leaves with Rick, he looks like a Walmart Private Fleet trainee (much more so now that he is pretty much as tall as his Dad (he won't stop growing !!!). Rick calls him every evening before he goes to bed, and they have a nice Father / Son talk. He knows when Rick will be home, and they spend quality time together doing "guy" stuff. Even though I love "guy" stuff, I let them do it without me, as it is very important.

Rick shares everything with me. We are best friends first. I am his sounding board for all of the less desirable things that truck drivers deal with, and that is ok. We work together on his supplies for the week, and things that will make his living in his truck easier.

Understanding what an amazing "job" this is, for a truck driver, is part of dealing with the "gone" part. Communication is HUGE, and makes you part of his day, and him part of yours. Just the mundane life stuff, that is that much easier when you have your partner to share it with. No matter how busy he is, I get a "good morning" text............... and multiple little endearments throughout the day. I share the same with him. It is important.

The reality is, when you are not stressed about money, being treated like garbage, job security, or the million common sense things that don't seem to be common sense in truck driving................. you can be "there" even more than when you were there physically. I know it may not seem that way at the beginning, but it will start to make sense.

Please drivers, any and all wives or girlfriends can post in my thread anything they want to discuss or know. If they are uncomfortable doing so, they can PM me. I am involved here because I know how difficult this lifestyle can be, and want to help.

Gloria, you painted a very eloquent picture of how a driver having a solid relationship with his spouse and children can really make this job so much easier and enjoyable! I agree with you wholeheartedly! Thank you for sharing! :)
