First day was lots of activity pay. Then, off to Vegas, then off to Apple Valley, then run a local store out of Apple Valley. Then back to Apple Valley to get trailer to take.................. wait for it...................... back to Vegas!!!! Then pick up a loaded trailer to take to Hurricane Utah (first time there). Then back to Buckeye with a load out of Hurricane.
This is a very nice running kind of week. I do have to switch trucks tomorrow night, but its all good !!!
Got a Road Observation by the Safety Manager in the mail (the wife called me). My first "Atta Boy,"
Woohoo !!! I'll tell you what, that makes you feel pretty good. I get to pick up a 2013 P.R.O. cap for it.
That certainly makes your day.
Am I smiling enough??
Buzzard2157, NYVET, TomOfTx and 1 other person Thank this. -

well I just finished the app for plainview, now just gonna kick back and see what happens. so if I do get the call for an interview I will be able to change things on my app, if for some reason I think of something I left off. don't know what that could be just being safe I guess.

Friday, did my FLW and picked up a back haul in the same town to go to DeSoto (centerpoint). From there I went to Masquite to pick up another backhaul but that one wasn't ready so I was routed to Ft. Worth for another vendor load to bring to New Caney. Did a two stop local then over to the IDC for a load to Dayton, did a local store load out of there and now back at Sealy with a pull ahead with a pallet load to pick up at the store. Hopefully they will be loaded when I get there.
On a side note, brake check week starts tomorrow (8th). Also associate appreciation week is the 15th-21st. Appreciate each other and everyone who drives! Be safe and have a good night! -
My load at Hurricane isn't ready. That's why I had to shut down for the night. I guess I will find out if it is ready tomorrow. If not, they will find a way to get me back to Buckeye, no matter what.
Ran through a nasty storm on my way over here. Actually got worried for a minute.
Night all !!! -
Yes, you will. You will be advised to amend the app if needed before signing it. I did forget something on mine, a deer strike from 8 years ago. It did not damage the truck because the deer fell on the ground and I ran him over. I had forgotten about it because since there was no damage, nothing was on my driving record. I added this just in case it was. As it turned out, it really wasn't on my record.Buzzard2157 Thanks this.

Matt, you saw me on Friday at Sealy, so you know how my time with Dennis went very well and was cut lose before the 4th day was over. Dennis is a great mentor! With his excellent mentoring, I was ready to be cut loose early. Friday and into the morning of Saturday I ran solo and it felt like I had been here a while! The OBC was a breeze for me, which by the way is an excellent tool. The necessary paperwork I must fill out is not difficult at all! I love the electronic logging! It is so much better than paper logs!. All the times I used "Jill" (NaviGo) for routing, she took me right to the driveway I needed to turn into at every place I went.
When I was running solo Friday and had a chance to do more thinking is when the whole working for Walmart really sunk into my mind. I had not previously realized how much my last job working with UPS Freight really was effecting me mentally and physically. The money there may have been good, but the culture that existed was not. I found myself always looking forward to Friday and dreading Monday. My weight had gone up a lot and my health had been declining as a result. Here at Walmart, the culture is one of togetherness, fellowship, teamwork, and respect for each other and those we come in contact with each and every day, among other things. Working in this culture here is turning me into a better person. The calmness that exists in my trucking life now gives me such a great amount of energy to do as good of a job as I can possibly do! While I had a great time in orientation and the few days with my mentor, Friday when I was on my own is when it really struck me how lucky I am to be working here at Walmart with such a great group of people, both drivers and non-drivers. When I was driving out of the DC Saturday, all I was thinking was how I cannot wait to come back to work in a few days! The feelings I have developed up to this point cannot really be explained as well as experiencing it working here can do! I am so proud to be a part of this group!
Before I went to orientation, I received a welcome letter from Walmart. Below is the last paragraph of the letter that has proven to be so true!
"Starting a new job in a new location can create anxiety and apprehension. But Relax! You will be exposed to a lot of information, but part of our company culture is to share a lot of information. The more you know about our great company, how it operates, and how you play a role in our success, the more ownership and responsibility you feel for YOUR Company. So Relax! Youre going to like it here !"
I do like it here! Jim, you were right when you said it was twice as good as your could have ever hoped for. Those who are applying to work here or are thinking about doing so, You're going to like it here! The culture is just so different in all the right ways it amazes me that other trucking companies have not even come close to matching Walmart. Walmart gives us all the tools to do this job so well! The excellent paycheck I make here is a bonus to the great culture here! It is so nice to wake up happy and feeling so much less tension. I feel so good when I put the key onto the ignition and realize I am a Wally driver!
Buzzard2157, drozzer69 and Boy Howdey Thank this. -
Not hard to stay busy here! The ROC just keeps feeding us trips with no gaps of time in between! It is such a nice feeling to see that OBC pumping out those moves as long as we have hours to run!
