Question, does Walmart require a hazmat endorsement? I did not see that in the job description when I recently applied for Plainview.

I could study and get it, but I've never needed it before.

No, I live in DFW and currently pull as an O/O for Walmart in Terrell.

I'll have to re-review my application because I saw no mention of it.

Guess that's a call I will not be getting.

I would go down get it started, its takes a little time with the tsa back ground check. up to 30 days for that to come back then up to 2 more weeks for it to be physically on your license.

Yes, they do require a hazmat endorsement. When you answer the minimum qualifications part of the application it asks if you have a hazmat endorsement.

The below link lists the minimum qualifications to work for the Walmart Private Fleet.

Wow Matt, you are right down the road from where I live. I am thinking of requesting store 1062 as my FLW in the future, if available on my out day of Thursday. That way my son can come see the truck from time to time without me needing to take him to Sealy. Since he is only 5, if I were to take him on the truck, I would probably take him to Sealy and run the load to Friendswood and have my wife pick him up at the store. He is still too young to stay out for several days with me. :)

Just got done switching trucks. They had me run from Hurricane, UT to Vegas with a load, then I was scheduled to dead head to Apple Valley, and pick up a load back to Buckeye. Was not a gonna work. 660 miles plus switching trucks, while driving a bit in CA.................. not a happenin. So, they had me dead head from Vegas to Buckeye.

Good weekend for miles, that's for sure. Nice and sweaty from switching........................ of course, after my nice shower in Hurricane. LOL

I almost hauled a hazmat load once (have had bits and pieces on many loads. You can tell how often it happens, because everyone was like "remember your placards, remember this paperwork has to go here, this one there, special treatment," so on. I'm looking at the paperwork, and see the weight. The GTM sees me looking confused, and asks me whats up. I show him the weight, and tell him they are saying this is a hazmat load, so-on. He chuckles, and says, "no, your right, this is too light to be placarded." So, all of the hubbub for nothing. That is the closest I have been to a true hazmat load.

That's ok, I hauled plenty of hazmat with my X job. I have seen plenty of people injured with propane, and one guy I knew got killed (would vent his trailer because he was being paid by the pound. Problem is, poor ventilation where he stored the truck. One time he made a spark........................). Hauling materials like that requires a great deal of respect. If you get lazy, or allow yourself to be distracted................ well, you know.

I'm feeling kind of left out of this donut thing. :(

    I like donuts.
