Congratulations. Having only started here on August 27th, I can relate to how you are feeling. The welcome letter HR sent me before I started made a impact on me personally. The below final paragraph of the letter was very true in how I felt being at a new job that was so much more difficult than other trucking jobs to get. After I finished orientation, spent less than a week with my mentor, and was on my own it really hit me. I am a Wally driver now! I have gone to work each day feeling happy, blessed, and proud to be working with such a fine group of real professional people! So relax, you will like it here too!
"Starting a new job in a new location can create anxiety and apprehension. But Relax! You will be exposed to a lot of information, but part of our company culture is to share a lot of information. The more you know about our great company, how it operates, and how you play a role in our success, the more ownership and responsibility you feel for YOUR Company. So Relax! Youre going to like it here !"
Walmart here I come!

Ok here we go! Today got a 3 stop grocery load, then to IDC to pick up a load to..........BENTONVILLE! This is going to be a cool trip north. Se the home office area and hoping to visit the home office before I leave the area. Been looking forward to this load for a while and now I get to go! Whoa hoo!
jfred74, Jrdude5 and Extreme4x4 Thank this. -
Well, our 3 million mile BBQ will commence on Mon, Tues, and Wed. They want to make sure all the drivers will get to participate.

I have a feeling I will be feeling like I need to walk home..................... again. LOL
Matt, that should be interesting. Make sure to give us a report. Especially those of us who will probably never get over there.
Ok, small rant. Would the drivers assigned to tractors please take their "air fresheners" with them. They all burn my eyes terribly, and I know I am not the only one. You get to spend all kinds of time looking for all of the hidden gems, so you can put them where they don't cause your eyes to water constantly while driving (which is dangerous). I never knew so many air fresheners were needed for such a small area.
Sorry, I have just had this a lot lately. If it was one easy to find freshener, it would be easy. However, it is amazing how creative people get at hiding these things everywhere. As you get accustomed to the smell, the only way you know you are still missing some is when you start driving the next day, and your eyes start burning again.
/rant.
Still having a great time though.

Good for you Matt! Now be sure to tell driver recruiting to hurry up and hire the 7 more drivers Paul said he wants to hire. That way I will not be on the bottom anymore! LOL!
I talked to Debra in safety Friday and she said the interview process you, me and recently hired drivers went through is being changed a bit. Applicants will not have the interview will Paul and 2 others in Bentonville via webcam, but will be pre screened before coming to Sealy before doing the pre trip/road test. I have seen a lot of contract drivers here at Sealy this week, so we need more drivers.
Here in Sealy now after switching trucks tonight before heading to Lake Jackson in the morning. I have been bouncing between here and New Caney this week, but still making a lot of money.
Have fun in Bentonville.

Rick, my minor little rant would be the drivers who have so much junk in their truck I have to step over stuff to move around, let alone have a place to put my bags. Not sure why some of these guys need so much stuff when only being away from home for 4-5 nights! I am driving my mentor's truck now. He keeps it very clean and not cluttered, so that is good!
Extreme4x4 Thanks this. -
They put out memo's on that here, and for a while it was pretty good. If not cleaned out, there would at least be a cabinet or 2 that you could put your stuff in. Now, I have noticed it going back. Only about 50% of the time am I getting a truck with any space at all. I'm talking nothing. It is probably time for another memo. LOL It is a pain to have all your stuff for a week floating around on the bed. Luckily I travel pretty light.

Hey tom, im still waiting for a call for an interview they said they will start calling at the end of October so I have my fingers crossed. curious about the changes in procedure. is that just at sealy or company wide? what do they mean by prescreen before coming to dc
-
Exactly! When I came back tonight to switch trucks, I knew my mentor would not be back until Tuesday, so I snagged his truck. He leaves a lot of free space in the truck when he goes home. The last few trucks I had were filled up to the max, plus had junk sitting on the passenger seat! I know I can have stuff removed from the truck while using it, but it wastes enough time switching as it is, I just put my gear on the bed, then put on the seats when I go to bed.
This doesn't take away from the job, but makes me look forward to my own truck.
-
They were even going to put a couple of trailers on the ground, so the drivers could store their stuff there. It is incredible how much stuff some of them take. Luckily I have been having a truck for the week most of the time lately. However, I still don't like having my stuff unsecured.
Mruffin, I wouldn't know about any changes in hiring. Buckeye hires so infrequently that I may never know (and may never get any seniority. LOL).
