You will meet with the GTM, HR, and Safety manager. The safety manager will take you out to the truck to do a pre-trip. Make it the best one ever! Touch everything you are going to call out (if you can). Once you pass that part, Road test. Just drive like you would any other day. Don't curb a tire. You pass both of those and they will schedule you for the drug test and medical and will do a conditional job offer to you. That is basically it. Once you accpet, they do a final back ground check and will call you for orientation start date.

What is the phone interview? I never had to do that when I hired on. Just went straight to the dc.
-
they changed the hiring process. now they do the interview over the phone. weed out some before they send you to dc for the road test. I got a call today for Loveland but turned it down for an interview at fort pierce.
Buzzard2157 Thanks this. -
Its the new more improved way to get warm bodies to fill seats. Gone are the days of screening either by good ole boy panel or the video interview. They have had to really loosen things up to get drivers. Long gone are the days of a driver having to jump thru hoops to get on with the private fleet. I called this one a few months back. Just look how hard it is to find good drivers let alone the best. First red flag was the radio advertising now the really dumbed down screening process. Won't be long and they will be camped out at the schools. Times they are a changing.Buzzard2157 Thanks this.

its definitely different Loveland just closed Monday and they called me for interview today. I figured it would take weeks to get a call if I was lucky enough to even get one. didn't expect that call today.

Or, maybe it is because they realized that they were losing good candidates because the process was taking so long.
Yep, next it will be fresh newbies out of school. (yes, that was sarcasm) They need drivers. There are a lot of good people out there who have no idea how good of a job the Private Fleet is, thus the advertising. Just look on these forums. For some, talk about the Private Fleet is like an urban legend. I do not see anywhere where they are lowering their standards. The minimum requirements have not changed. You still have to be a very experienced driver with an impeccable record.
Yes, things have changed. They had to do some changes to make the hiring process and quality of drivers consistant. They are not, nor will they ever be the job you get when you have your 1 year of experience in.
Off to bed................... its my Monday, so a long day. My son is sleeping like a baby (he is with me this week).drozzer69, grabberblue12, Jrdude5 and 1 other person Thank this. -
The phone call they make to offer you a interview is not a phone interview, Yes they will ask you some questions to make sure your still interested etc... there is still a video call interview at the. dc... your first interview is with the gtm and a video conference call with with Hr.Talked to some applicants this week in the drivers room there for the first interview. The funny thing half the ones that get through interview fail pre trip and road test.
the requirements have not changed....the negativity that comes out here cracks me up...... and yes there is a shortage of good drivers let alone great ones. Look around you today on the road some of these drivers are down right dangerous driving like idiots racing the clock. there is not much courtesy for one another anymore.
People saying gone is this gone is that blah blah blah.... well things are going to be gone as change is made to improve things. If changes are not being made your not keeping up with the times and the industry. Change is going to happen no matter what your profession is.Last edited: Oct 11, 2013

All right, last day of orientation. Very busy week packed full of information. Too much to remember, but it will come. Had my own room at the hotel. I was number 2 on the seniority list for my class of 6 and there are 2 more guys coming in next week. There is also another batch of interviews next week and they are hoping to get 10 more. More than likely I will be rolling into a program or truck on the next month. Lots of guys retiring very soon. My mentor is a 3 million mile driver with a custom truck. I will be the second driver to ever drive that truck. Feeling the pressure on that one, but trying to look at as I'm being trained by the very best of the best. This place is everything that is talked about in this thread. Respect and genuine effort to keep you happy. And they feed us ALL THE TIME!!!!! Going to have to be careful with that one! Have a great day everyone!
Jrdude5, Buzzard2157 and drozzer69 Thank this. -
welcome aboard congrats.....jfred74 Thanks this.

I agree I think they just streamlined the process. The phone interview is the same 9 questions they ask you at the in person interview and its 2 people on conference call. I have 1.5 million safe drive miles been driving 17 years no tickets no accidents . Been with same company last 12 years. So I don't think they are bottom feeding just yet.
grabberblue12 Thanks this.
