I dip my ladle deep everyday where I work now, plenty there. I want the same from WM, not asking for it easy, just let me earn.

It sounds like you have a decent job where you are at. I started in September, my gross every 2 weeks is around 3400. Walmart is a great job and we are treated like kings here. I would be hesitant though to leave a 95k home every day job though.

I just started at Walmart I been driving a truck almost 20 yrs. Most of it has been in the ltl business. I worked for a major ltl carrier. Making over 60 cents per mile running line haul and when I left I was on 510 mile run 5 nights a week home everyday. But when I was home I was in the bed. money is not that important to me. Driving all night long sleeping during the day it gets very old after awhile.

That schedule doesn't exactly agree with everybody either. I couldn't take it for long.

If you are happy stay if not Walmart is an option the money will be about the same but you won't have to work the dock . I came from LTL linehaul not for the money but for the different schedules . I work 5 on 5 off make 70 k a year benefits not as good but quality of life better, equipment better treatment better paid time off better just my 2 cents

The money opportunity is always there. The job security and treatment at work is second to none. Frankly, it is a pretty easy truck driving job. Lots of time off also. The biggest difference for someone like you would be primarily working during the day and sleeping at night. With a family, I can't imagine trying to deal with the flip flop sleep schedule. I worked graveyards at one point in my life, and that is hard. I can't imagine doing it with a family.

When my husband started at WM, I got him back. While his X job may not have been graves, it was hauling propane. The stresses from that job meant for a very tired and often grumpy husband / father. He doesn't have that any more. He has so much paid time off, and when he is home, he is truly home.............. with us.............. where he belongs. I think that, and the treatment the drivers are given, plus the quality of the trucks and maintenance, is worth a lot.

Just my opinion, as the wife.

Yeah the midnight oil is a double edged blade, have the road mostly to yourself. Like someone else said, I think the insurance might be a big let down. There's nice "extra" insurance that is cheap, like temp disability, (free) and the long term, long term lifetime, vision, dental, dismemberment, ect. But the medical is quite spendy. Me and my wife, she smokes, I don't. Just the medical is $119 every 2 weeks, not bad, BUT $5,500 deductible and 6700-6800 can't remember the exact amount, total out of pocket. The $119 is going up to $132 I believe in 2017. With all the extra insurance I got, ie. Life on both, accidental dismemberment, critical illness, lifetime disability, dental, vision, and every thing maxed out for coverage, I'm paying between $270-360 every 2 weeks for everything. (The lifetime disability fluctuates based on your gross).

So I just checked, 5,500 deductible (each), then 75/25 up until my total out of pocket reaches $6,850, each, including deductible. The max out of pocket each person is $6,850, so $13,700 if we both maxed out our care for the year. Plus premiums. High, but health care is a mess, it's blue cross blue shield, accepted everywhere, and has many 100% covered things like regular medical exams, and stuff like that. As for earning, in my 1st 2 week period alone I hit $4,121. I'm in a busy area, at a busy time, and extended into my 6th day to run my hours out. It's there if you want it. I stay out of the drivers rooms and truck stops. Keep the left door shut. Blah, blah, blah. I don't, and never will like the big brother thing, 3rd yr in a row voted safest major driving fleet, but in cab cameras are coming anyways. "We trust you, you're the best drivers anywhere, but here's your cameras." I get it, it's their trucks, and also their hypocrisy. Stay in line soldier, you'll do fine. I'm done ranting, it's go home day. Later.
