I work for the a large LTL carrier. Our log books are 100% legal. I run a line haul run and have to work the dock for 3-4 hours a night @ $25.91/hr. The mileage pay is when I'm driving. I run 508 miles a night 5 days a week M-F. The mileage plus the 3-4 hours of not on the hourly clock make it about $425-450/night. Decent health insurance, I pay $38/wk for family coverage including dental and vision. I work 14 everyday and push it daily to get from A to B. LTL life someone says, I'm home every morning, sleep and get up and do it again.

I find myself not sleeping as much, freezing to death in the winter and constantly pushing. The Walmart opportunity seems like I can make comparable money for a significantly amount of less work. Plus have the job security. The grass looks greener, but maybe I'm as green as it's gonna get.

I'm just waiting to hear the results from my background screen to decide what I'm gonna do....tough choice that's for sure.

But .61 is just my mileage pay. If I'm not driving I'm earning $25.91/hr for ANYTHING I do.

I'm just trying to get a baseline of the possible earning potential here.

IMO I don't think there's no way you will get family insurance at WM anywhere close to $38/wk. I know my friend outta my dc in tx pays like 570+ month and deduct aren't that great either.

It also seems like you're burnt out with the dock work and working nights. No doubt Walmart will be easier work. I have to work 13hr+ to make $400.00/days except on weekends (+.06cpm). IMO Id think long and hard about that decision lol.

I am burnt out, no question about it. Plus there is a moving target for the expectations. All in all it's a good job, just that WM has always seemed to me to be the "peak".

I'm trying to make a well informed decision that is the best fit for my family. The money, all be it important, isn't the only thing to consider.

I run to Gary IN every night and break freight and collect my freight. I don't know of an LTL company besides Conway that does that. And were not even the shortest run into Gary every night. There are four barns that run 40-50 miles more a night and still break freight.

    That's why we work our 14 everyday....see why I'm a bit burnt out....lol?

I know you are wore out. I had a 510 mile run. I was scared at first about coming to Walmart but so far I love it
