Just a heads up for all newly hired, and/or prospective hires, do not put off getting your hazmat endorsement. Just had a guy from our orientation class be warned, 2 weeks ago, he hadn't gotten his yet, and his 120 grace period was soon approaching. He took the test, passed it, got his finger prints taken and sent in, but hasn't received his license yet. While waiting he went over his 120 day grace period, and was contacted that his job was terminated. Once he gets his license he will be considered eligible again can can re-apply to any D.C. and start all over. Needless to say he's devastated, and admits there's no one to blame but himself. I wasn't aware of a 120 grace period, I've always had mine, but he really put himself in a bad situation.

Yes this is unfortunate, but we were only reminded about half a million times at our DC. Hr and safety would bring it up every chance they got to see new drivers
-
That's exactly right. Ours did too. He kinda denies that part, but I was there, heard it several times a day from each speaker from safety and hr. He's got 3 kids, and a wife who stays home to raise them, and then even made the mistake of buying a new car in his 1st month as a solo driver. Just unfortunate, I got to know him quite well. Very likeable. Just not very responsible. I'll just encourage him to keep trying, never give up, re-apply, come back with a lesson learned.drozzer69 Thanks this.

We had a guy at Are DC the same thing happened to but they just sent him home until he got it it took about 30 more daysdrozzer69 Thanks this.

So if I was a guy I would definitely be calling Bentonville
-
Yes I was told I had 120 days and if it didn't come in in that time frame I would be pulled out of the truck and sent home till I got it. Not fired
drozzer69 and BackIsSore Thank this. -
I'll let him know, he said the call came our D.C., but they said Bentonville made the decision. I'll pass it on tho. Kinda seems like a backwards way to do it, firing him until he gets it. But they definitely called and told him they were "terminating" his employment. He had already been told he couldn't work until he got it. I'll follow up as I learn more.
