Like most have suggested, it CAN be done. If you really want this job then go for it! Sell your TV that your DirecTV was hooked up to so you can purchase the test. You can always buy another TV or anything else you can sell later when you can afford the luxuries.

If you want this driver, there is nothing stopping you from giving it your all. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you change your mind and follow through with the advice given. If you don't, then you shouldn't complain about your current situation if you're not willing to put in the work to better yourself.

These people are just trying to HELP you. Anything you sell can be replaced. Remember that! I don't have a 17" neck but I was close so I worried because I heard the number 15. So I called the DC I was applying at and they were rather rude and repeated that they were not a doctor and wouldn't answer my question. So to be on the safe side I bought an at home test. I ended up not needing the test because I was just below the BMI. I slept better though knowing that I wouldn't lose the opportunity I waited so long for over something that was in my control.

If it's out of your control, there is nothing you can do about it. This IS very much in your control though. Again, good luck to you driver!

Walmart has the final say. Not saying it is legal, because the EEOC recognizes that the opinion of a DOT certified medical examiner in determining whether or not a driver is medically qualified trumps what someone in Bentonville "thinks". I personally took legal action against Walmart over my medical certification and they reversed their unlawful actions against me. Not everyone has the stones or the financial resources to do so, but in my experience I can tell you that Walmart is a paper tiger!

Now, part of the advice I have been giving you is based on how Walmart will likely view your case even if their doctor does give you a one or two year medical card. They may very well call the doctor who certifies you to get them to change their decision and demand you undergo a sleep study. If you were to take preemptive action and get checked now to confirm whether or not you have sleep apnea, it could take this problem out of the equation. Let me add one part you may not be thinking about. If you go take a physical with Walmart and you end up failing or get say a three month medical card, this will REPLACE the current medical card you have now, so you could jeopardize your current job as well since the DOT medical examiner will report the results of your physical to your home state.

If you tested positive for sleep apnea and began treatment right away, this should not prevent you from being hired now if you are being treated for the condition. Since you just had a phone interview yesterday, it is likely you would be called to come in for a road test and physical within a few weeks. This is why it is urgent to address this issue NOW! You do have some flexibility in when the road test is scheduled to buy some more time. If you are not committed to addressing this potential sleep apnea condition right away, then taking a physical with Walmart now could cause more harm than good as mentioned in my last post.

No matter what happens, you will always have the option to apply with Walmart again in the future. Since getting your financial situation on better footing is more urgent now, I am just spelling out how to navigate the whole application process as it pertains to the DOT physical portion, which is one of the last steps in the process.

Not legally considering none of them is recognized by the FMCSA as a certified medical examiner. Discussing your medical condition without any consent from you to do so opens the door for major legal charges of discrimination should they not hire you, so do not ever initiate that type of conversation.
