Hi Yall! This is Tom's wife, Kate! I will tell you MY viewpoint of if taking this job is "selfish". What would have been selfish is if Tom kept the job he was at which was making him miserable just to be home every day. Be home every day to pass on the misery from his negative pessimistic days...NOT! He was thinking about being a better man for me and our beautiful children. Yes, it is hard on me emotionally to say good-bye to him for days at a time, but, I know that may not always be the case. But, to see my husband as happy, energetic, and positive as he has been and showing me MORE attention NOW (regardless of his time away from home) than he did when he came home every night.....I owe Walmart the happiness I share with my husband in our marriage now. Selfish is the wife/family that does not regard the driver's state of mind and only their own pleasures. Tom's attitude makes me miss him every day and cherish our time together when he is home. I hear about the great friends he is making on this job and I am thankful to them! If you are reading this and are one of those friends, thank you and watch over our husband/daddy! God bless!
Walmart here I come!

Oh yeah, definitely agree 100% on that! I knew it would be great, but just like with anything, you just don't know until you really know! I actually pity the people who say they turned the job down, if that's what actually happened. They have no clue what they missed out on. I just hope the company they work for stays in business, cuz you know Walmarts not going anywhere!TomOfTx and Buzzard2157 Thank this.

hey tom! did you have vacation time coming when you left ups? ill have 4 weeks vacation and my safety bonus coming on my anniversary date dec 15th curious if they will have to pay me for that if I leave. its not accumulated as the year goes by at my company you get it all at once on your anniversary date.

I used it all before I left UPS. I took several weeks off before I even interviewed with Walmart. I needed some time off to clear my mind before the interview.
They will be required to pay you for it provided you give 2 weeks notice before you leave.

Awww man! First week solo and I hit a deer in Missouri. Had no choice. 2 lane road and a car coming in the opposite direction. Roads were wet and he slipped and fell down in the middle of my lane. Minimal damage to truck. Called the safety manager and TARP and will have to sign a report when I get back to Wisconsin. Other than that a great day with 611 miles and a some activity pay. On my way to St James Missouri. Didn't think I would get so far out right away! Have a great day everyone!
