Buster Brown? Not me, came from JB Hunt. To answer your question about my transition to over the road again...honestly, it wasn't easy, still have down days. The first week on my own was #### near magical. The next couple weeks were the most depressing days of my life. It gets better over time. The only bad part of this job is the away from home part, 4 1/2 hours for me. Wouldn't be so bad if I lived local to the DC, I'd feel better knowing my domicile was near home, even if I was staying the night far away. I guess it's a mental thing, and it IS getting easier (the JOB couldn't be easier). I'll tell you this, I wouldn't have done this for ANY other company out there, but Walmart is simply amazing. So it's a difficult transition for ME, made easier by my wife and all her encouragement and support, and also thanks to Walmart for the environment and culture they provide us. It's like with any job change...you just take the time to get used to it. I love it here, even on a bad day, but make no mistake about it, being away from home and family sucks, but I'm happy to do it for them, they are my driving force. Like I said earlier, it would be selfish of me to have turned down this opportunity to work here, to better the life of my family.
Walmart here I come!

Hi Gloria! This is Kate! I appreciate your post and agree, my sentiments exactly....I'm falling in love with my Tom all over again! He's getting back to the man I met because he doesn't have the stress, either, that he did when he was under-appreciated. The job was the same ole routine day in and day out. He'd stand up for what was right just to be disregarded. Since his new job he doesn't feel invisible anymore. Don't get me wrong, it's not that he didn't appreciate what he had at home. But, when a man spends most of his week in a depressing environment that zaps the life out of him it's kind of hard for him to have anything left in the tank for his family. Before, waiting for him to come home Friday night was like "can his spirit be home, but, physically stay away...LOL". I just didn't know what BS he dealt with at work to determine what kind of mood he'd be in. Now, I know to just let him sleep when he gets home (its pretty late), but then by morning its exciting to run into his arms knowing that he's not "Joe Pesci in need of a snickers bar". So, as wives I'm sure you can agree that this job is not only a benefit to the hard working drivers, but, for the families as a whole! Nice to hear from you!

No kidding !!! His X job was killing him, slowly. Rick never complains at work, does everything he needs to and more, never gets tickets, never has accidents, diagnosed and often fixed his own truck, and he was invisible to the company. He was too good of an employee, and when it would get slow in the summer, he would struggle to get work. Seniority meant nothing, and he was the senior driver. It was just beating him down, and it was awful to watch.
I will say this. The Walmart Private Fleet is not just a job, it is a lifestyle. It is getting your life back. I don't know if I can come up with anything better than that. The security of knowing his job will always be there, and he will always have as much work as he wants to do, is just peace of mind on top of having my husband back.
Nice to meet you Kate !! We should start a Wifes of Walmart thread. LOLTomOfTx Thanks this. -
(Kate): Let's do it, Gloria! You'll have to invite me...I'm new at this thread! LOL
