Lol thanks is it the same pay between the two ? I don't know if you read my last post that was pointed to the forum but what is the take home pay first starting out and is it weekly or bi-weekly, do they hold your first check ? ; I heard from drivers and a few guards that check drivers in say that Walmart made a lot of changes that the older drivers were leaving? I'm already sold on applying and hopefully being selected it would be a honor to drive for a private fleet for a chance

A lot of the old drivers are complaining because they just want long runs to the store and to come back empty losing the company money because that's how Sam did it 20 years ago. They're fine with Amazon coming in and mopping us. I'm happy to see Walmart making changes and trying to stay profitable.

Another thing they're ticked off about are driver facing cameras. A lot of them abuse the phone usage requirements and send texts while on the drive line so of course they're upset about it. Don't tell me I'm making it up because we've lost quite a few drivers who've had minor accidents but their phone records is what did them in.

Come here, be a good boy, cash your paycheck and go home for the week. It's one of the easiest jobs in trucking.

If the money is great I can careless about front facing cameras in a slip seat truck that I only use five days or six days out the week lol , I can't believe the old timers are actually leaving a great predicament for something that is not stable, exspecially a sought out job such as being a OTR driver for Walmart. Appreciate the information that y'all two have given me, hopefully if all goes well I will see y'all at a D.C. In my button up

I already had a sleep study done for knight Transportation in February of this year , the results are negative; they use a company called Aeroflow out of North Carolina, should I have aeroflow fax or email the results to the walmart recruiter when that time comes ?

You'll have to ask the recruiter about that one. I'm sure everyone's case differs when it comes to that industry money grab sleep study!

Lol it is big business , I had results prior to knight Transportation physical and they still made me take another one which I was told that they would pay for it , after the knight recruiter order it and it came back negative, they started to deduct the sleep study test from my check at $9 a week lol ; I have insurance, they should've told me so I could've put it through my insurance. Long story short I requested a receipt and had my insurance reimburse me for the test , hope Walmart is not the same way ; I notice y'all had a few posts about this issue will keep y'all inform about if you have results before the Walmart dot would they request for another to be done.

The pay is similar. You get paid mileage plus activity (drop, hook, arrive, live load, live unload, weekend premium, layover, etc). Starting drivers will typically make a minimum of $75K a year, but most make much more. You start orientation on the first Monday of the pay period. Payday is every other Thursday, and cut-off is the end of the previous Friday. So, you will have a 2.5 week period with no pay when you start. Not because anything is held back, but because of where you fall in the pay period. You will have a week of classroom orientation, and then a week out with a mentor (or 2 weeks if you request it), before you are completely on your own. You get paid hourly for classroom, and full driver pay while out with mentor. You will have to ask the HR folks about the insurance as it is different in different places.

The complaining normally comes from older drivers who never want anything to change. Walmart has to change, or they will be left behind. This includes trying to utilize their drivers time better to cut down on outside carriers (which actually cost Walmart more money than their private fleet). My husband has been here 4.5 years and yes things have changed. However, he doesn't feel it is necessarily for the worse, just that it is change. You roll with the punches. His DC is doing a test with the driver facing cameras and he tells me how he talks to it while driving. LOL Is it the perfect job................. no. There is no such thing. However, it is still one of THE best driving jobs you can get.

Thanks a lot , i have about four to five more months before I hit my thirty month minimum requirement to be considered; however, I will only have one solid year with the current carrier I am at now which is knight Transportation, all of my remaining experience was me leasing my truck on to multiple companies lol nothing to abstract just three companies that just didn't work which I decided to leave. I had a major breakdown which led me to go back company; I started in the industry as a independent contractor after receiving a truck from a close friend of mines, would having only one solid year with a company hinder my chances or do they require a more stable work history? No tickets on my mvr and no accidents

You should be fine. You can explain everything during the interview. I don't think 'job hopping' is a pre-interview disqualifier, though I wouldn't call a year 'job hopping', so I wouldn't worry. Your record (no accidents or tickets or criminal background) is what they'll consider the most, so once you meet the minimums, if your record is clean, you'll be good.
