People need to remember that just because we drive for Wal-Mart transportation doesn't change the fact that it is still a trucking company. This is one of the best otr jobs out there.

the job being easy has nothing to do with the message that was sent yesterday. We all should be concerned with our future with the private fleet. I'm not going anywhere until I hear what's going to happen. But they clearly stated in the message they are going to do something with the private fleet. We are too expensive to operate.

I was thinking they meant re-negotiate the contract carrier rates because the contracts were too expensive not the Private Fleet, but anybody that can do math can see how our salaries add up as a great expense. I think when SW started this it wasn't all about the numbers at that time because what was the competition? Mom and pops? K-mart LOL? Therefore it was about the quality and the professional (in house) service a private fleet brought.
Now with online purchases and companies particular (amazon) it's bringing questions to the table as what to do to reduce costs. Well let's take a look at our biggest expenses? Salaries and equipment? So how can we reduce those to be able to cut costs and compete. It's a numbers game these days. They could reduce pay mileage pay down from average of .48cpm to 37cpm @average of 2000 miles per week with an average DC having 200 drivers with a 180 out weekly your talking savings of 35-40k per week!!!
Even at 37cpm which sucks there would still be apps filling out with drivers just itching to get on just for the simplicity nature of this job.
