Walmart I found to be the BEST

I am not a Walmart recruiter, they have outward & inward facing cameras. We only use the outward facing cameras. All the tractors I get in have tape or a bandaid over the inward facing camera. Walmart Transportation has extremely high standards. That does not mean their drivers are not human, they go to extra lengths that OTHER transportation companies do not do in safety. If you don't like high standards, wearing a uniform, being clean and making easy money you will not fit in here.

 

We are allowed to talk on a phone using a bluetooth. You can only talk 10 minutes at a time with no more than one hour total. We are here to drive safely, not chat on a phone while driving. If you are addicted to your phone don't even apply at Walmart.

 

I only listed those companies that I have actually worked for in hopes to keep some newbie from making the mistakes that I did.

 

Walmart is always changing their methods to support the drivers. They recently opened up a team division to run OTR. They also just opened up drivers getting their own trucks but that is going to go to the senior drivers who bid on that position, you are always allowed to bid on any position, you just might get it. They have slip seats and now some drivers get their own trucks. I go home home every five days with two days off. I just bid on a position 6/3, that six days out and 3 days at home, I hope I get it. They even have positions of 5/5 five days out and five days home. You will be only working 26 weeks, if you are retired or don't need the money that would be good for some people. I put in a request for drivers to take their dogs. Who's know maybe they will do that in the future. There is NO pressure to run, if you are tired, or running out of hours it's ok, you just tell them and they will work with you, they are all about safety. I asked them about 48 states, they say in the future they might do that. After one year you can transfer to any Walmart as long as their is an opening for drivers. I am on the east coast, after one year I am going to transfer to Oregon. No you can't stay out longer, maybe in the future they will change, they want you to get your rest, I make $$$$ and drive less than any of those companies listed. I get paid to sleep in my truck overnight. I get paid for every activity, arrive, stop, hook, drop, live unload, layover, sitting after 45 minutes. They match my 401K after one year dollar to dollar up to six percent. Walmart 10% discount card when you shop at Walmart. Provide uniforms and clean them for you. All DC- Distribution centers have clean showers, but hey if you want to take a shower in those unclean truck stops nobody is stopping you. Trucks and trailers are incredibility maintained. I just received an $8,000 sign on bonus plus they have a quarterly safety bonus.

 

I can't convince you nor am I am trying. For the amount of money they pay me and all the benefits on top of that they are asking drivers to do only what is safe. If you don't like being safe you won't be a good fit for Walmart. I just received an $8,000.00 sign on bonus, not bad for three points of contact.

yea slip seating is not for everyone but hey, I am sitting at home after five days on the road. I had to go out 4 to 6 weeks for those other companies I mentioned to make the same money I make for Walmart. I think I can get use to slip seating.
