when ever i need/want to buy something online, i always go to amazon and my other ecommerce retailers. i cannot recall ever buying anything from walmart (online), as thier selection of goods simply does NOT COMPARE to the other online companies.

this is absolutely true. here in the New England area, we had LONG TIME retailers that built up thier business ONE store at a time, and believe me, they WERE VERY POPULAR AND BUSY...

they are nearly all gone now. walmart came in, dropped prices so low, and back then with AMERICAN MADE products, then as the smaller companies folded, walmart jacked up thier prices and started importing more form the other countries.

frankly, even though i am a wamart shopper (since nealry all the other stores are gone) it wouldn;t bother me one bit if walmart folded up as well......but i just do not see that happening any time too soon.

pffttt...as it is now, when i go to wally world, at the early morning hours, i can't find anyone willing to open the doors to get in..i actually pry them open, what are they gonna do, throw me out..??

i'm there to get what i need, which means i am there to spend money.

as for cashiers, they already have at each end of cashiers row, self serve check outs......

when i go shopping, at a retialer, i want a REAL cashier, not self serve. the prices I PAY, I DESERVE a real cashier.

That's one of the reasons I like shopping at Publix so much, real cashier's and no self checkout system to get jammed up. They also open as many lanes as need be instead of letting lines build up and the people are pleasant. It's amazing how much nicer shopping can be when the store actually pays people well and gives them good benefits. Some people I work with say it's too expensive but I'll pay the difference to be able to get in and out, not have Cracky McMethface working the one line that's open, and have a nice clean well lit store. When we lived up in PA the similar store was Wegmans, do you have them up in New England?

for real groceries, i go to a "stop & Shop up here. there are owned by a holding company that also owns Giant..

anyway, they went on strike, for the usual reasons..like more money...

ok, strike has been over now about 2 months..

now there are MORE self serve check outs, and fewer cashiers..

gotta be careful what you wish for, when you go on strike.

ok, but we both know, the morons that cannot operate a business, will be buying them up.

Great example of someone who didn't take new technology seriously until it was too late. Kodak was another huge one that did the same thing.
