For whatever reason, they're having issues finding drivers these days. I talked to a WM driver who said they'll take CDL holders with 3 years clean CSA score.

Wal Mart uses "dedicated" carriers at GM locations when freight is heavy... Carrier choice varies by location... they also use different carriers as to not favor one over another. As far as Wal Mart being hard to get into, they require lots of experience and a clean record. Some DC's are harder to getninto than others, sometimes guys from clear across the country will work at a DC just to get into Wal Mart, then transfer back close to home... It can take a while to get in because of the long process and the sheer volume of applicants.

Respectfully, if you are just starting truck driving school. Wal-Mart will want you to get in 3 consecutive years over the road, before they will hire you as a truck driver. Just wanted to give you the heads up. I did not want you to get your hopes up, and thinking that you were going straight to Wal-Mart as a driver after you finish your over the road training. My suggestion would be to you, and this is exactly what I did. Check out all of the companies that hire recent driving school graduates. Make sure you find the one and see how they are going to pay you and ask around with other drivers out on the road, but not all over the road drivers out there will give you the same answer, so please keep that in mind. It is easy to jump in head first with a company you think maybe it is a good one, and then you have to stay there under a contract, because they will be paying back your truck driving school, and may not like the company once you get your foot in the door as a first seat solo driver. The reason why it is easy to do that, because it is your big break into the trucking industry. Hope this helps. Best of luck in your truck driving endeavors. -
They seem to contract out the Perishables Runs (DC to Stores and Clubs) to other companies.
