NFI hauls for them around here. At the wal-mart here they bring in a set of pup in since a 53 cannot get in there(biggest allowed is 40 footer) Usually the guy will do one trailer, then go back and get the other which is parked at a sams club and return with that one.

I have seen the wal-mart truck before. All he does is bring in a pup, drop it in one door and then hook the mt and drive off. He is usually there later in the day where as NFI is there right around 7am with the first trailer

Swift got the contract that greatwide lost about 2 months ago. Walmart found out that it was cheeper for other people to haul their freight so they sold most of their trucks and let people such as swift crete jb hunt universal and us xpress

Walmart sourced out it's grocery hauling to Swift in my neck of the woods. Mesilla Valley Transport even hauled some Walmart dry grocery loads for a while out of the Los Lunas DC but that didn't last, mostly because the MVT drivers couldn't follow instructions. I heard while I worked at Wal Mart that the Wal Mart drivers told the company they weren't going to babysit and live unload the refrigerated freight which is why most of that is outsourced.

Have you seen those 53 foot universal intermodal contaniers, Wal-Mart uses 90% of them that you see at rails and ports

I heard WM is building a tunnel under the ocean from China to each of it's retail stores, a direct tunnel complete with roller bars, so trucking their inbound freight will be a thing of the past.

WALMART did not sell most of their trucks , they just finished updating the entire fleet + added a lot of additional tractors.

They also bought a pile of CASCADIA sleeper units with the new side skirts as well as a lot of KW T660 sleeper tractors its called FLEET update , they replaced sleeper tractors that were not being utilized with day cabs on the shorter runs.
