Not to be rude, but you don't drive for SNI, why do you claim to know all this info about them?

You don't make much money because you are BT'ing looking for MT trailers??? You do realize you get paid for ALL dispatched miles right? So if they send you to 15 different places looking for an MT, you get paid all those miles. I run regional, I get home EVERY weekend, not just for a 34, but I am home Friday night and leave again Monday morning, it is a true 5 on 2 off schedule.

Rawesome- I started OTR with SNI 2 years ago. I liked it, very good experience. I stayed out 4-6 weeks then came home for 4-5 days. After a year I decided I wanted to be home more often so I switched to regional. I now work a 5 on 2 off schedule. Best move I ever made. I liked OTR but I make more money now and am home every weekend. I don't think you are crazy wanting to go OTR first, I would do it again, it was great experience. The nice thing with SNI is they are so big, you always have options to switch later on.

She's just on here ######## because her son was a little "scared" for not getting enough training. You could spend six months with a trainer, and it won't get you ready for something that could happen tomorrow, she just doesn't realize that.

I drove for a mega carrier in a Walmart dedicated account. I was sent everywhere in the US. Never went to Vermont, Maine or NYC though.
It was a GREAT!!!!! account. Very easy. Pulled only Walmart trailers - great equipment! Would p/up at shippers and deliver ASAP with no appointment at DCs. All deliveries were drop & hook at WM DCs. Would drop the load, hook to an empty and head to next shipper.:biggrin_25519:
It was a very well run operation. Minimum delays, no hassles and all problems taken care of right away.
Sometimes, when my company's load planner didn't have anything from Walmart, I would check in at Walmart fleet dispatch office and offer support to do store loads and whatever they needed. Sometimes would be running out of one DC for one whole week. Their dispatchers are EXCELLENT professionals and treat "pop up", OTR dedicated drivers very well (in general). I loved that account. Unfortunately that contract ended... :biggrin_2557:
Was wondering if Schneider would have something similar to offer to a new hire with 5 yrs of experience.

I hear if you speak up ya might can get extra Otr training someone recently was goin out for second time I hear =way better than 3 days, so when you go if your not ready even if your trainer wants to sign off after 3rd day, go ahead say Im not ready, and don't feel stupid to say it cause most get 5 lately. Especially get your trainer to help you with backing if you need it ,some don't but maybe 1 time, cuz your gonna need that, especially if you went to mom and pops cdl school. Most everyone with only 3-5 days Otr training is scared 1st time out alone, you will be too. In some companys you have set with a trainer a month or more and would do ANYTHING to get away on your own. btw what is bobtail pay per mile for newbies? If your getting home Friday and out on Monday=you have a really good dbl .

No she is on her to try to keep people from going to Schneider got what ever reason. It's been explained to get time and time again in other threads that SNI.isn't here to train her son, school did that. She doesn't get the point, and most likely never will.

Bobtail miles pay the same as deadhead miles which pay the same as loaded miles. Your mileage pay is your mileage pay regardless, unless you get a short haul then you make more. And I do have a good DBL, but he isn't the reason I get home on Friday and go back on Monday, we have about 30 drivers on my board that work a 5 on and 2 off. Some take different days off than me, but that is the board we are on.

SNI isn't here to train you, they are here to make sure you can make good decisions on the road before they put you out in a truck. I spend 5 days with a trainer. I have now been driving for 2 years with SNI, my training was sufficient to put me on a good path to a successful career. If you don't think it is enough, go spend 5 months with a trainer in another company running team with the trainer in the bunk not teaching you anything.

Companys who accept new drivers should also accept the responsability of training them Otr more than 5 days, otherwise then just don't accept 0 experience drivers.
