I was just hired 2 months ago.

Who has made the claim you must have a minimum one year certification? Have you talked directly to driver recruiting in Bentonville?

Do you think you sleep apnea? Ever discuss this with your family doctor? Having sleep apnea will not keep you from ever getting hired here, I have sleep apnea, along with a list of health issues that scare the crap out of life insurance companies!

I don't think I have sleep apnea....the Examiner came in and said I cannot cert you under Walmarts sleep apnea policy without you first taking a sleep test....I went back to HR the same night explained to her what she had told me and she acted like it wasn't a problem...then I got the emails and called today and she said I couldn't be hired because I had failed my DOT....WTF are you serious? I'm suppose to be getting a call from bentonville tomorrow explaining it more in detail..

She just said I have to have it done and I would have to cover the cost of a sleep test...no problem....but then I get those emails

it just sounds fishy because I didn't think you couldn't certify someone based on their requirement...

where I work now we have a fitness test they HAVE to pass...but it's not federally regulated like the DOT

I would think if you did take the sleep test and have the results from the doc and reapplied you would make it through the next time pretty easily.

First off, now matter what, these events do not prevent you from ever being hired in the future.

As for the sleep apnea, this is an area that too many medical examiners will assume one has sleep apnea based on a profile and not clinical evidence. Sadly, there is too much leeway for a medical examiner to fail someone based on speculation. Soon there will be real parameters for sleep apnea that go beyond what a person's neck size or BMI may be. In the meantime, get this checked. A home sleep study can be done for a small amount of money. Once you know one way or another, it will not prevent you from getting hired here or at other companies.

It seems like the neck size is causing a dissabylity for this driver and that is an unfortunate thing. In some societies long necks are more desireble than short ones. This ludicrist that someone could desqualify for neck size. It could be a ability not a dissability. Cheers
