Just to clarify Tom, Wal~mart and HR did tell me that you must and they require that you get a minimum of a one year DOT med cert. As far as the sleep apnea maybe the doc they are using for this is what maybe holding you up as well. Talk with Bentonville and see what kind of options you can get. Just remember to keep your cool if they don't tell you what you want to hear. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Absolutely don't give up hope and it might be in your favor to go see another doctor if you can just so you have a second opinion on the long neck issue. Cheers

Ok well I thought it was the length not the gerth thanks for pointing that out. But what I don't get is how they can establish that a person with a greater diameter of neck would have sleep apnea. This must have something to do with Wall-Mart's life insurance policies and nothing else. Meaning when Wall-Mart takes out a life policy out on you they don't want that policy to have to pay out I guess and with a larger diameter neck their profile says not to hire. Interesting to say the least and as well discriminatory. Cheers

There's a checklist they have... If you fall into ANY of the red categories you have to take a sleep test if you fall into two or more of the black categories you have to take a sleep test...I didn't really get a good look of the qualifiers but I know I had a girth of 18 inches around the neck( anything over 17 gets flagged) and when they look into your mouth if they can't see more than half of your throat that gets flagged...those are the 2 that got me...I did see that a BMI over 37 I believe was automatic soo who knows

What in the world is a sleep test? Sleep apnea is when a person stops breathing for a few seconds when they sleep. I think this is nothing to do with sleep but BMI and the risks larger people have with health like hipertension diabetes etc. Cheers

I'm gonna have to check into this further. I just talked to friends wife and she said this is the new law. Said her husband has to lose 12 pounds before his cert is up or he will have to undergo the same sleep test. Suppose to have started 10/1.
