Joeyd I did get the job. Been at it for about a month now. Like any job it has its things that can aggravate you. But at the end of the day they're are way more plusses than minuses. Every driver I work with tells me that they wish they would have got in sooner.

Excellent thank you for the reply, if you don't mind what DC are you working out of. What's been your longest delivery/pickup so far?
Sounds like it's worth it I'm waiting for my 2nd interview

Working out of Tobyhanna Pennsylvania. In the northeast the hauls aren't that long. Maybe 200 miles was the longest so far. You get paid for all your activities like drop and hook, live unload. The thing I like the most is that if you ever feel the conditions are unsafe to drive that you can shutdown no questions asked. Just keep them informed. And they'll pay you by the hour while your waiting.

    Joeyd Thanks this.

WOW that's awesome! I hadn't heard that yet, nice to know you don't have to "white knuckle" it AND get an earful from your dispatcher or at your receiver if your late.

At Least Where I'm at, They Don't Supply Tire chains. I was told by other drivers that if you need to chain up, you need to be off the road. Good luck with your interview.

Ok nice to know that little tidbit of information. I was thinking if 200 miles has been your longest run how can you make a decent paycheck like that?

You get paid for all miles, loaded and empty the same. Paid for all activities you do. You touch nothing. They make it fair with activity pay. The way I look at it, you can make just as much doing short trips as someone doing one trip.

    Joeyd Thanks this.

Between mileage pay, activity pay, and sleeper pay, you will average between $0.70 a mile and $0.90 a mile. It depends on the load and what the activity is, be it a drop and hook, live load or unload, backhaul, claims trailer, etc. You also get $0.06 a mile extra on weekends. Don't worry, do your work and the money will come. :)
