My company doesn't use recruiters or even advertisements except for a driver job line ad on every trailer

The trucks are empty because most companies don't pay livable wages and/or care about your living conditions. Companies are looking for gypsies not drivers. Or in other words, the rolling homeless. Good companies are not hiring and most good companies don't need recruiters. Contrary to popular belief.......there is no driver shortage, there's a pay shortage. Pay drivers for their time, treat them with respect and like professionals and trucks will no longer be empty.

Recruiters Lie. I bet every veteran on hear will be absolutely shocked to learn that. But at least our families will get a free flag at our funeral.

They don't treat the drivers bad at all,
they treat them like they don't even exist.

    You see the picture ?

It all goes back to deregulation, JB Hunt and NAFTA. JB came in and started cutting rates and paying drivers accordingly. Now there are many companies undercutting JB Hunt and they pay their drivers accordingly. As long as drivers are willing to work for highly reduced wages the situation will not be corrected. The industry brainwashes younger people into thinking there is a driver shortage, they go to CDL school in the hopes of bettering their personal situation, not a thing wrong with that, then when they graduate they think a job that pays .30-.32 per mile is good job. They really don't have a choice so they work for low wages. I don't profess to have the answer for young drivers but it will only get better when people refuse to work for sub standard ( living ) wages.

I know a driver that's been driving for 20+ years that drives for 30 something cents per mile just because they let him use the truck as a personal vehicle and guarantees him a certain amount every week. Beats all I've ever seen.

This post right here is 100% fact. Never has been and never will be a true driver shortage.
