I went to a Trism orientation back in '98, but bugged out after the second day. This is because I learned what hauling the chemical waste was all about. Talk about a pain in the ###. I'd much rather run reefer than drums of chem-stuff, and I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than run reefer.
Before you even open the doors on a wagon with waste drums inside, you gotta "get prepared". This means you have to put on your special chem-suit, gloves, and breather. And every barrel has to be touched. Don't think you'll be hiring a Mexican illegal to lump it off, either. YOU will do it. At the chicken feed rate Tri-State pays for unloading, it's no surprise they need drivers to play the fool and be glorified garbage men. That company has always needed drivers to be their garbage haulers.... and they always will need 'em, too.

Well folks I suppose that's one way to look at it. Again they do give their drivers 379 Petes to drive. I don't work there though.
Funny thing about all these different companys. Each one has something bad about them whether it's hauling/lumping radioactive waste, reefer or rubber dog c**p, it's always something,LOL.
If you wanna drive someone else's Pete though, be prepared to run hard for little pay. The good gigs are few and far between. -
I guess you missed my post about Pride Transportation in Bakersfield, CA? 35cpm ain't high pay, but it ain't low either.

What's with this love affair with 379s? If the company has ONLY 379s, it's great, but......
If you're a company driver, the penile extension won't even be yours. Plus, if you go to work for a company that has a few 379s sprinkled in its large fleet, you will have to work to keep that truck, meaning you'll have to kiss some rear and maybe break the law sometimes. If you don't, the company will assign it to somebody else and you'll get relegated back to the vanilla Freightliner/Volvo. Yes, this means the company will play games with its 379 drivers and even extort certain behavior out of those drivers.
And, of course, if your 379 is ungoverned, you'll probably be expected to drive 'er fast no matter where you are. -
Turnover, equipment, safety rating....?
Sounds like they're worth checking into. And if their only rig is the 379, that'd be nice...as long as they don't want you fireball all over the place. -
Your gonna be short of companies running 379's very soon as peterbilt has discontinued the 379 and has replaced them with the 389! KW has also discontinued the T600 wich has been replaced with the T660(T660 better truck IMO and looks better also. Very similar.).

In fact, I'd be willing to bet that most people on this forum wouldn't approve of the company as they tend to turn their heads when it comes to running a log book. They're an old school kinda company. You know, your father's trucking company. Of course, I'm not gonna get ostracized by some of you for even mentioning a company that is "renegade" on this forum that seems to love companies like Roehl and Schneider so much. All I gotta say to any of that is, you drive your truck for your company, and I'll drive mine for mine. Right or wrong, there's some of us out here who still run the books the way we want to, not the way DOT does.
