what did you do in the army. Some company's will count that time as experience. I was an 88m and my 3 years counted

When you go through school, they should have a bunch of recruiters come through and tell you all about their company they work for. If you live in NC then you might want to check out TMC. From what I hear they're the Marine Corp of the flatbed and trucking field. They take students right out of school. A couple other companies out there are BTC, McElroy, Roehl, Werner and so on... You really just have to get out there and look to see who is hiring and if you are within their hiring lane. BTC, TMC and McElroy all hire students and are strictly flatbed companies, they also might gwt you home every weekend. TMC wants you to have a passport and gives you a bonus for having it and a TWIC card. Roehl and Werner have divisions in flatbed but mainly run van. Good luck with school and make your first pick count. Research, ask questions and research some more. Then ask more questions.

TMC Requires you to have a passport? That's news to me I work here and I don't have 1. It must be something new.

You should read your company's requirements better. :D

Here's the quote from their FAQ for Drivers:

[h=3]Are there any additional endorsements/requirements I need to obtain to drive for TMC?[/h] Yes. Just as other professions require tools of the trade, professional truck drivers are no different. After reaching 30 days in your own truck, you will be required to begin the process of obtaining a Hazardous Materials endorsement on your Class A CDL, a Passport or Passcard, and a TWIC Card.

    Here's the link: http://www.tmctrans.com/drivers/faq

Better check with your manager. :D

I'm not checking anything I've been here 2 years and I don't have a passport. And if they forced me to try and get 1 I will quit I refuse to go to canada. I see absolutely no need for it if I stayed busy as I do just running the 48 states. I do know when I started nobody needed to get there passport within 30 days of higher. I do have my hazmat and my twic but those are just to maximize my profitability here. I guess they must of changed a rule as you pointed out that you have to have it within 30 days after your hire date.

You'd quit your job because your company wanted you to get a passport? Really? Or are you just blowing hot air and playing a tough guy on the Internet?
