LOL sorry I got a giggle but there is good freight in Washington just gotta know the where and who as usual. The western 11 are pretty bad mostly and if you touch the lumber at a buck a mile, OUCH! I wont touch the stuff .
I feel for ya JDP, getting stuck in an office in your near future but there are worse things.
Use your 300 to your advantage then and maybe change it to a half now and half then thing. Everyone can use a lil'extra cash and they like the instant results.

i keep hearing stories of the lumber loads has to be tarped for a buck a mile but i havn't seen it yet and i live in eastern WA so i guess im not looking in the right places and thats all i hauled for the last year in a half on maxi's so maybe a little more than i would expect for a standard flat or step. but really people are hauling this stuff for a buck a mile????
-
Yep and the reason for it is because of the maxi loads. Up there (as you know) maxi's rule the roost so they dont pay when it comes to the 80,000 lb rigs. I have seen tons of 48000 lb, full 8 ft tarp paying a max of 1.25 a mile. on load boards. People do haul them but the smart ones like cpape charge more for going in and then be a lil more pickier about what comes out. There are good paying loads up there but you have to be quick and know where and what to look for as it will be gone quick.
BTW Sammon's is a good company, never worked for them but my father in law did until he slipped off the top of a load and bounced his way down the ground, ouch! -
i know what you mean, some will learn and most know the out of the way places are good up their, but north of 90 usually isn't.
Thanks, Sammons is working out well so far, was your dad able to drive agian? that does sound painful -
We only go out to the left coast 4-5 times a year...so we have very few contacts out there. It is a real challenge to find anything better than 1.75/mi all inc. out of WA, OR or NorCal. It is also right on the outer limit for a driver to make it out and back in 70 hours. It works better for us to avoid it, but we have a few customers that give us 100% of their freight. When they have something heading that way we gotta go.

Nope, he dont drive anymore. Messed him up pretty good although he works on mine for me and calls me dumba** when needed LOL
@cpape thats funny, I have heard a lot of folks call it the LEFT COAST.
Its a tough cookie out there sometimes but the office I work out of usually has a lot of direct customers as they were another trucking company until selling out to American Transport Inc. If you have hazmat and TWIC on the drivers when they come out you will have much better luck and I can get you in touch with that office. Be tough on prices with them, every now and then I have to be

We don't haul hazardous but all open deck drivers have TWIC. I will be in touch if we send anything to the NW this year.

And that right there is why you're not getting my app in a few weeks after I get my Class A back.
Dangit!! Maybe if ya snuck over one night soon, hooked up, and towed my sweetie's trailer to someplace nearby without much snow... Bah. Probably wouldn't work.
Best of luck all you Pape's. I've been impressed as well with your posts. Hope to keep seeing good things for you.
