You just need to find something tolerable for 365 days. Then you're gonna have 100x more options. They are immensely better than something like Swift , they have a fairly small corporate office and that could work in your favor.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

I've noticed that. I've spoke with a few friends of mine and that's what they have said. The first year is the worst for starting out. After I get mine and have my year and experience in, if like to find something with more home time -
The worst part is living with another guy who is your 'trainer.' After that, the alone time you get with this job is pretty nice. After 6 months you can hop to a regional job, and after 6 more months you can get a nice local job. once you hit 2 years, opportunities will throw themselves at you. I just got a job hauling gasoline, not bad for coming from a background of no opportunity and no hope.
Greasemonkey2015 Thanks this. -
Also, what part of the country are you in? If you are in a state that relies on agriculture, you can get a local job pretty easily once the harvest season starts up again. That's what I did, out in California. Started hauling grapes, got on with the union, never looked back, I've never spent a single day over the road. The local jobs are there (look at intermodal or port work); it's a lie they like to push on you , that you have to go OTR to get experience. That's just a fabrication , so don't limit yourself to these large bottom feeder companies.

Thank you for all of your input. I'm looking forward to getting in to field

I'm in North Alabama, I know a few company's that are local. It's just gonna take some time before they will even look at me
-
Do they make you team for the first several months/40k miles like Prime does, or is it a brief period of 2-4 weeks with a trainer?
-
I like what Henderson has to offer, but hearing about this push towards teaming (if there is one) puts me off somewhat. I get that there will be an element of teaming while with a trainer and to be honest I wouldn't mind it at all if the trainer wasn't always sat next to me.
Once I am deemed good enough to be out on my own then that's exactly where I would want to be.
