    In other words...

“You are only a mere driver and are thus by default entirely too stupid to do that safely, therefore we demand the presence of a police officer if that truck moves backwards by so much as a millimeter”

I have heard the same thing from former drivers on this site about jb hunt trashing your dac. I will have to deal with that then if the time ever comes around.

Honestly though I am glad I did not let that stop me from driving with them. This company suits me so perfect that it is almost like I designed the perfect trucking job for myself.

I read that and said to myself "WHAT THE ACTUAL EFFING F??" o_O:eek::mad:

I will now officially clean porta-potties with my tongue before I work for Schneider.

Nah, it seems like you missed the point.

Don't tattle tale on yourself for breaking some asinine rule.

"Hurr Durr, I turned too tight and hit the curb, I should call the police instead of just changing the transmission to reverse to back out of the curb."

Who, except a total beta cuck, would ever do that?

Yeah I'm not suggesting you make it a habit or put it in reverse without being completely sure of your surroundings. WHO the #### would never put the transmission into reverse on a street?

Lets get law enforcement involved with a completely trivial situation, because cops always make the situation better.

Google search for "Atatiana Jefferson" to find out what happens when you carelessly call the cops for no good reason.

A trucking company saying call the cops when you need to back has about the same level of irony as when a state deems that those who wont work need free public housing and free heat/AC, yet that same state enforces a no diesel idling policy, ensuring that those who WILL work unlimited hours, are denied of heat or AC.

    Upside down world.

you guys are a riot :) yep...I figured out to ####, kinda goes against my nature when I really feel like I should 'adult' and own my actions....but in this industry...Nah. I used to work in engineering and adulting was expected and respected, I've discovered this is not universal.
The same day I was 'fired' (back in June) I got a new job. I was afraid they'd list me as fired for some safety violation. So I signed on with a 2nd chance company... and expected it to be terrible embarrassing no money etc etc... and I love it lol. I could drive like the window licker Schneider made me out to be...and get away with it. Company hires idiots and disasters so I look like a #### hero. Make the same money and they leave me the hell alone. I might stay, don't know. Been 4 months and it's cool so far.

BTW for all the stupid that Orange did- they didn't list me as fired...? apparently they show neither fired nor quit...no entry on that line at all.

Geez, I'm a rural P&D driver--if FXF ever implemented a policy like that, I'd need a police escort all dang day long!! :biggrin_2552:

Got a name on that company? More than a few folks would rather make a bit less and drive for people that aren't up their butt constantly...!!

Policy is that if you have to back on a public roadway there must be a spotter controlling traffic.

$300,000 fine last spring from the city of Green Bay. Driver tried to button hook into a customer, but went out too late, stayed wide too long and stopped just before hitting the "we put this here to stop trucks from hitting the lamp post" boulder. He tried to back out, but instead of getting clear and circling the block (road is a circle) he tightened the angle tractor to trailer and hit some kind of utility box.

Also in GB this summer - driver starts to turn into POV lot at the terminal, realizes the error, tosses it in reverse and obliterates a car.

I can go on if you want?

There are only three gauranteed ways to get fired from Schneider:
    1. Make a uturn on a public roadway
    2. Have an unplanned disconect
    3. Hit something while backing on a roadway.
I know of guys who have survived pretty much every other scenario - one guy almost kept his job after laying the truck over. It was IT/Engineering throwing a hissy fit because the driver had a test truck and they have to start all over that did Scott in. Schneider cares about those three things because we lose every case.

Heck, we just lost a judgement that was 100% not our fault - except that the driver was doing 60 in a 55. Other party left the scene in handcuffs and with a list of citations, but in civil court we got hammered and had to pay out because our driver was speeding.

It may seem idiotic, and it is - no argument from me - but as long as the "Big Company Has Deep Pockets So Its Okay to Screw Them" environment continues we will continue singing the scissors song.

We call the big uglies the big uglies for a reason , they are big and ugly. Pumpkin along with Werner and Marten do that. Everything is the drivers fault , everything.
