I was talking to my mom about it and she brought up what the Plague Doctors did back in the black death to keep the disease away...plague mask with spices in the beak to keep the smell out...seriously considering that and a ####load of air fresheners going into this.

Evidently, the smell is something you get used to. The plants I'm affiliated with have gut trucks (tankers and dump wagons) and feather trucks coming in and out on a regular basis. I see the same drivers almost daily getting on the outbound scale while I'm trying to check in and many of those drivers have the windows down, riding around the plant and enjoying all of the aroma. Yeah, it's awful in the summer.
Lonesome, austinmike and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
Was gonna say.....they don't seem to have a problem keeping people. Odd....
But, my place is in the absolute middle of nowhere....Cuthbert GA. And any job is a good one.Lonesome, austinmike and 88 Alpha Thank this. -
Before I came back driving tanker after being off for a few years, I went to one of those plants that Tyson has near Fulton, Ar. to see about a job running the hostler truck. Was summer and the stink was like nothing I had ever smelled. Just being around there for 30 minutes made my clothes smell bad enough that when I got home and went into the house, my wife made me get out of those clothes and threw them in the washer.

I pickup out of the hickory plant once in a while. Sometimes I smell it bad others I don’t. Must be the wind. There’s houses all around it too.
austinmike Thanks this. -
Bunch of diesel fuel and a match should fix it.austinmike Thanks this.

The owner would probably be alright with that. Wait 'til fire season is over and come on out. Seriously. We want to see how you do it. We'll even supply the diesel...if that's all you plan to use...and the matches.
I was kinda thinking about a diesel/gasoline/ soap flakes mixture but you just go right on ahead.Lonesome and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
It’s either gonna fix it or make it worse. It still wouldn’t be useable though. Never had to clean a smell like that before. Did he talk to a restoration specialist. Someone that goes in a building after a flood or fire. They may have some ideas to get rid of the smell.

You said you could do it. Why should we pay some high priced professional...you know, the ones who know what they're doing and carry insurance and all that...when we can get a well meaning but clueless amateur with more bravado than good sense and not have to pay him anything. Except maybe a nice sympathy card for the widow.
The trailer has been sitting with the hatches open for three years. The rainwater and snow melt keeps the slurry level high. Summer time comes, it still stinks. A coyote fell in a couple of years ago. That didn't help.Lonesome, prostartom, dwells40 and 2 others Thank this.
