Losing money has never been something I enjoyed. One reason i have been working for others for so long. I do want to start my own business at some point. Not sure I would want to start one trucking, but it is a thought :)

Are you an employer? If so what company would you recommend or advise?

Finally, someone that takes advice from the experienced drivers!

Like others have said, give it a whirl as a company driver for at least a year. If you jump in feet first buying a truck not knowing anything, it's a very, VERY good chance you'll end up slaving away the rest of your life.

Please, just give it some time before you make a big jump.

Never had the desire to be an owner-operator; too much pressure and responsibility.
I like being a company driver; when I'm off there's no stress with truck bills piling up.

Yes, exactly right. I have heard many drivers quit before 1 year too. Another reason. Not sure why, but i guess like anything, some people aren't meant for a job. i like driving and am good at it, so that is a start anyway.

    Crude Truckin' Thanks this.

It is a great start, as a company driver.

How are you at running a business all by yourself?
And how much more time do you want to invest, aside from just doing the loads?

You might have some 14 hour days and have to be up 10 hours later.
As a company driver that time is yours. If you are handling all the little details you may still have a couple hours of planning to do.

Bfr38, Crude Truckin' and Rambling man Thank this.
