I wouldn't. Keep in mind that 100's of people are hired every day with NO experience. Don't sell yourself short.

KLLM Driving Academy - KLLM Transport Services
We offer refresher courses to students from around the country.
    REFRESHER COURSE

    OVERVIEW
Do you have a current Class-A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) with at least 3 months of experience in the past but don’t have recent experience to qualify to drive solo right away? Our KLLM Driving Academies offer a 9-day Refresher Course that will put you on the path to getting back on the road as a professional truck driver.

    PHASE I: DRIVING TRAINING
You will skip the classroom portion of our academy and head straight to driver training on the truck driving range and on-the-road refresher training. Our experienced instructors get you back up to speed quickly and ready to hit the road.

    PHASE II: INTERNSHIP PROGRAM/OVER-THE-ROAD TRAINING
After graduating 9-day refresher course, you then go out for 240 hours in total with a KLLM certified trainer — earning weekly paychecks while on the truck with your trainer.

    UPGRADING TO YOUR OWN TRUCK
After the 240 hours of training with a KLLM certified trainer, you then take an upgrade test. Upon passing it, you then have an opportunity to gain employment as a professional truck driver with KLLM.

    Opus Thanks this.

Roehl Relaunch Program creates driving jobs
CDL-A holders who stepped away from their commercial driving career for other non-driving employment. The Roehl Relaunch Program™ is open to former truck drivers who may have left trucking for positions in construction, manufacturing, retail and other industries as well as current drivers in local trucking jobs who may not be getting the income they need.

If I thought you should totally give up -- I would have come right out & said so.

The intent of my previous post was:
    • If you encounter at least several rejections, you will not internalize it the wrong way, since you now know the overall market is sour (i.e., it's not necessarily a problem with you)
    • You stand at least a decent shot with the carriers I mentioned above -- thus: DON'T GIVE UP.
Going forward: note that all successful, long-term truck drivers have a certain mental toughness (or "grit")....that sustains/carries them through tough situations.

Many would-be drivers lack this quality -- & thus, they don't last.

This is (in part) why many carriers really like to hire military veterans (with an honorable discharge).

    Just some food for thought.....

No not at all... just harder to find a fit. And dont need a refresher if you can find right employer. Its most larger fleets are the ones pushing refresher course stuff
