I'm pretty sure PAM "owns" them.... @Cottonmouth85 or anyone, correct me if I'm wrong. If you really want to go company sponsored, there are better options. What kind of freight do you want to haul? Boxes (ie: dry vans / reefer... good way to start being new, btw..) Flatbed (securement is a training of its own...I personally don't advise while still trying to learn solo HOS, etc etc etc.....) Tanker (again, a breed of it's own....not recommended fresh out of school, but SNI will do it, if that's your desire!)
Dry van or reefer I'd be fine with cuz I'm familiar with them. I wouldn't mind doing flatbed but yeah, more experience first would be best.
How far are you from Harrisburg PA ? I work for Old Dominion . They have their own school. Line haul , you check into a company paid hotel. If willing to relocate , the Harrisburg term (Carlisle PA) , you will climb the ladder quickly. Think they start students at like .54 a mile. Pay you to come to school (17 or 19hr). I am out of Greensboro. Top pay is .64cpm . Best of luck .
I don't know much about PAM other than I had a friend that was a mechanic for them. I started out as a dry van but I've done just about everything else in between. Tanker was pretty easy going.
He's right, LTL is the way to go... look at Bob Dobalina and some of the more successful guys on the LTL thread. (sorry, Daniel...why do I always forget to include you guys?) I tried to get into Estes before I got my Tanker gig...they FINALLY wanted me, when I was already settled into where I am now. Just be sure you get ALL your endorsements. I've pulled doubles for FE/LH back in the day; really not too hard. A few extra things to learn, like pintles and shuffling and dollies and such, actually easier that tanks and flats, in a sense. You will DEFINITELY NEED your doubles/triples endorsements. I really don't see anyone pulling trip's but for FedEx and UPS... and that, kinda rarely. I did triples ONCE when I worked for FE.... was really no biggie; but for watching out your mirrors as often as your window, LoL.
