Yeah Kim's answer was basically said on the call but like I said I didn't hear the entire response.

Schneider has been quietly moving their I/C freight to other small carriers with their own authority and different numbers. Even created two separate load boards. Made no sense until now. All you have to do is watch the big players.

    PoleCrusher and mudflap77 Thank this.

Can't use Schneider as an example. Schneider is all about company shills, and squeezing every red cent out of everyone.

Agreed. I'm just watching who moves their freight. It has changed decidedly over the past six months. I drove for them. Something is surely up. You can easily spot these trucks. They don't have the lovely 8 inch block truck numbers. Not saying I'm right.....just sayin.

Well thanks. I'm in the middle. I have been in both shoes. Each one has pros and cons. I could say both are good in the right situation. I could go on that topic a long time and still not give anyone a definite answer of which I like.

Independents and Leased on to carrier Owner Ops need to be left alone. You own the equipment and choose how to operate. Either one has made a substantial investment to be self employeed. That only comes down to operating authority. You lease that equipment to a carrier. But your responsible for the employee cut and dry. I dont know how to see that any other way. Sure someone will.

But if you lease your equipment and your lease and carrier dictates what you do or how you do it. You should be paid as a driver and paid for equipment usage. The old 2 check system.

Now ill hurt feelings. I dont mean to. But I will.

If you lease equipment to said carrier but put a 1099 contractor in it, or allow carrier to put a 1099 contractor in it. I hope this f-you.

If you own a fleet with 1099 drivers, who dont own the trucks. I hope this F-you.

Now mind you I do not wish bad of the driver working to do what he has to. But if your a 1099 subcontractor driving someone else's truck. You have not made the best decisions anyhow. Time to go find a better job.

Lease purchase. Have no bad wishes towards the driver. We all took different paths to achieve a goal. But the fleets who adjust capacity with 1099 subcontractor drivers while screwing them on a truck purchase. I hope this snaps one off in their rear. They are taking the best of both worlds. They pay you peanuts, you maintain and pay for the truck. They make a huge profit and tell you what to do. They control you as a employee when needed, your financing them. Yet when it comes to taxes and benefits your independent?

    Big ## to them.

It's not a free country anymore. That's been the problem since 1861.

glad you did it but we need a hell of a lot more who need to participate with politics, we just have too many lazy owners and drivers. However …Your letter will most likely get into the circular file. Not to bash your attempt but lighten up on what others are doing or going through and focus on how it effects you and show them why. The staffers get thousands of emails and letters daily, they don’t read rant letters and their tolerance is low for rant letters. I learned a long time ago how to reach out to elected officials and making it personal adds more to a letter than to demand or show a concern. Politicians love to use personal stories for a cause and you can give them one, even in this case.
