That actually may be a way around it. Admiral Merchants makes it really easy (from what I understand), for their contractors to get loads from brokers. Maybe these other companies can do something similar.

I agree, I have been in your situation and could again someday. I'm against this act solely for that reason. But for it against the LO, and 1099 drivers. Im not against the driver, just the cheap scum they driver for.

As mentioned. The Construction industry is ridden with it. They claim it help reduce cost. B To the Sheet. Construction cost and profits are huge now. Its only reducing cost for the general contractor. Consumer/purchaser pays more. Labor pays increase tax rate and is solely responsible for retirement. No benefits.

Your trading your life for money. They are under valuing your worth for Corp profit.

That makes no difference. They broker the load to AM and you haul it.

You could trip lease to said broker, but now your hauling it for them, not AM, or who ever is your primary lease.

You can be leased to as many companies as you want. You are not bound to them.

Wrong, I'm leased to a carrier and book all of my own loads from any source I can find broker or direct. The carrier I'm leased to never gives me any freight. I prefer it that way. I doubt this will pass but its crazy the backwards ideas that come out of this current administration.

@PoleCrusher that is were you guys are getting screwed. I dont know this factually but I imagine in your equipment lease it states you are not permitted to trip lease. Either company policy or insurance company policy. In that situation they are controlling you and equipment for the solo avalibilty to haul their freight.

I understand this is not a popular practice anymore. But nothing illegal with professional legal agreements. But you have to cover parent lease name and info and display info of trip leased company to legally do this.

If they won't let you trip lease when they do not have freight. They are controlling you.

Oh I agree with you. One of my big gripes with where we are. It's practically impossible to book anything outside of their system. They should have something set up where we can find loads outside of the agents. But that's a discussion for some place else, maybe next time you come down for beer and burgers? Oh wait...you're the one that bypasses us when you're in town ;).

Let's hope so, meanwhile my letters are being sent. Complacency has gotten us an ELD mandate, truck crippling emissions systems, retarded HOS, a huge influx of cheap foreign drivers, crumbling infrastructure...

At what point do we take some form of action?

Very well written letter!!!. In any business the lawyers always win and unfortunately most of our Representatives are lawyers. Part of the problem is unions trying to eliminate compatition and creating more union jobs. Teamsters mafia trying to gain ground while their friends are in power.
