Dude, you have to start somewhere to get experience. And with where you live (in FLA,) Werner might honestly be your best bet if you want to see home on even a semi regular (like once a month?) basis. Florida is notorious for having lots of inbound freight, but not a heckuva a lot of outbound, unless your yanking a reefer or a tanker. So decide if you'd rather a white tractor or a blue tractor, and then make the best of it for a year. After that, provided you keep it clean and stay out of trouble with accidents, tickets, late deliveries, etc, more doors WILL open for you, I guarantee it.:yes2557: Take your time and enjoy the ride, a year goes by awfully quick once you're out there....

Lied to, low wages, 20-30+ hours a week worked and not paid for, long crazy hours, rude office support staff, mean incompetent shop employees, rude or angry shipping/receiving dock workers, filthy truck stops, socio-pathetic truck drivers, road rage, heavy handed D.O.T and cops, sleep deprivation, retaliatory Dac reports, junk truck assignments, and see home and family when trucking company decides you can, it all sounds like fun to me were do I go to sign-up............THEY ARE ALL THE SAME FOLKS, IT'S TRUCKING, IT STINKS. The constant turn-over should be clue, but some are clueless still.

Do some research, I was initially upset when I did not have a good chat with a Werner recruiter about a month ago, but since then I have read MANY forums. I have narrowed my choices down to Watkins and Shepard, Stevens and Cargo Express. I personally am leaning the most towards Watkins and Shepard, today I did a bunch of research on Cargo Express and they look really good as well.

    I wish you luck.

Thanks big time. I just got a recruiter calling me about being approved to work for them. But its not going to happen because of your and the others out there complaints about how they operate. Tell a friend about this forum.

So did you pick another company? Are you willing to share which one and why?

If you contact these recruiters sites, you will get lots of calls from recruiters. Still entertaining certain ones, will let the list know which one I picked, thanks though.

Many people would rather work for free than seek professional representation. Afraid someone would 'call them names'...

Fact of the matter is there have been way too many trucks chasing the available freight in recent decades = low wages, high turnover. Nothing new here.

I worked TL freight for 5 weeks in 1988 and nearly 6 months in 1990; will probably never do it again due to the ridiculous pay and 'circumstances' involved.
