I Ran for Sunland Distribution for 3 months And was fired because I could not be intimated.
I ran legal And never had a accident or a ticket. But the company is in accidents all the time and has many problems with the DOT
AND is ABOUT TO HAVE MORE>>>
The fleet MGR is the main problem and any reply on this thread that is pro SUNLAND is a POST DONE BY THIS Jack ###
(KEN) the fleet MGR for all three company's Sunland Distribution,WAW,and SHEPARD TRANSPORTATION.

Companies like this can keep on practicing illegal but if a driver runs illegal only once.they get put oos, their vehicle gets towed fines.Doe'sn take much for drivers to lose their CDL but take yrs for the law to go after companies if they even do.

Hey Jet, up until 3 months ago, someone I know (we'll refer to as "Mr X") was running for a scoundral that had his drivers running illegal. I mean flat out dangerous, flagarant disregard for DOT rules & regs. Like yourself; When Mr X finally decided it was time to cash in his chips & walk before something very bad happens. He felt hard pressed on how to handle an interview w/ a potential new employer. What Mr X did was carefully select the wording he used & never bad mouthed the former scumbag employer. When the interviewer asked "what happened"? Mr X basically responded with:

Mr X: "1st off I'd like to make it clear that I was very loyal to that man & ran real hard for him. I asked him for a job & he gave it to me. After a while I became uncomfortable w/ his business practices, but it's his company, & he can run it as he sees fit. (slight pause), .. which brings me to a question I have for you".

    Interviewer: "Go ahead".

Mr X: "If I do get to drive for you, will there be any problem if I run DOT compliant?

Interviewer: "No, ..in fact we insist you stay compliant".

Mr X: "Whew, ... "Well thank God for that".

^^^^^^This was the crux of a lengthy intervew ^^^^^^

Now Mr X is looking forward to his start date driving for a highly reputable company. ~Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advise. That is exactly what I would say if I had another trucking co interview.
Florida is rampant with Scumbag company's like Sunland. WAW and Shepard Transport.
I am retired and drove for these Pinheads long enough to flush them out so all Florida and TX drivers do not waste time with the
worst of the worst. I will be writing a report for the DOT, FMCA ,Over the road Mag,OSHA https://www.osha.gov/oshdir/fl.html
Would welcome any report from any driver past or present who was come across these three company's that are owned by the same owner.
The Party the over for bottom feeder driver abusing Florida truckings.

I used to work for this company at a mechanic. In the better of two years that I worked for Guy, I have seen what drivers have put their trucks and trailers through. If youre gonna bash the company, you have either been fired or dont have the driving record they are looking for. Yes the trucks are not in the best of visual conditions, but they are trucks that have well over 1.5 million miles on them. With that many miles, do you really expect to have a shinny looking truck? They want to hire drivers that will do their jobs and do them safely without tearing up the equipment. New drivers get the, so to say, older trucks. As with the drivers that have been with them long and have done their job correctly and safely, get the better of the trucks. As for the log books, last I knew just about 90% of the trucks are outfitted with Qualcom electronic logbooks. Yes Guy and his son's have a bit of an attitude, but when you deal with drivers that are complete idiots and tear up the trucks and equipment on a regular basis. It kinda comes with the territory. Like the driver that tried to do a u turn and smashed the sleeper extensions into the cab totalling $2500+ in repairs. Or the driver that tried didnt pay attention to the bridge height and ripped half of the trailers roof off leading to that trailer being scraped. Or the driver that drove through Georgia and half of Florida with the dump valve open and destroyed 8 brand new Goodyear drive tires at $700 each. You tare up equipment, your escrow account will be used for the repairs plus any extra from pay. So dont complain and shoot down a company cause yall dont know how to drive. So to those that are reading the comments looking to see if the company is a good one to work for. Remember, no matter what company you work for. There will always be issues. If you keep your head right and do your job, you get the good equipment.
P.S. I left to further my mechanic career, I would gladly go back to work for the Wortelmans at WAW Transport/Sunland Distribution of Florida/Shepard Transport.

We don't feel sorry for this company at all
In fact we need to put companies like this out of business as a favor to society and in order to keep our highways safe
