Next time you stop there. When you have a compulsion to check refrigerant specs.. With your engine turned off.Go out to your truck, pop the hood. Then check your a/c compressor and refrigerant data. There should be a sticker on there to read. Also here's an interesting book on refrigeration http://www.amazon.com/Conditioning-Refrigeration-Repair-Roger-Fischer/dp/0830628819 . You might be missing your calling. Working on hvac systems. Good luck....Stay safe!!

Why not become an HVAC tech? Do you at least pull a reefer? :)

If I saw you poking around doing something you never see others doing it would raise my eyebrows. Did you have a Pepsi in your possession?

Stop at the Pilot at the 238, 287, 320 or push on to all the truck stops at the 369.

I say we boycott the entire United States, seems anymore there's at least two or three people a day saying to boycott this place or that place. Pretty soon we wont have anywhere to get fuel, eat, take a dump, shop or eat at. While I can agree with others about you being in the wrong line of work with your interest, I would have been a little concerned with your activities at that time of the day. Especially in the world that we live in now.

If someone "popped" your hood at 3AM, and then said they were just interested in all the different types of engines and how they were set up, wouldn't you think that a little strange.
    Same situation here.
Don't put yourself in these situations and you won't get these reactions.
If you are interested in HVAC, get a book or Google it on the computer.

    Not really.

Do you know, some drivers run at night? At 3 in the morning?

Iowa I-80 truckstop wasn't worried in any way shape or form when I walked in to purchase a fridge, or when I was poking around the rest of the shop while playing with things @ 1am.

I wasn't harassed while I was playing with the phone holder pad, or the radios, or anything else.

Is it fair for someone to be harrased/verbally abused for having an "odd" curiosity of "how does this work?"...No...

But, dont lie op... you said out of the blue youve never lied or stolen.... that makes me wonder abit on your integrity

My father in-law worked for Hussmann Midwest in Indiana, a union job. He had been in refrigeration for many, many years. He didn't read labels or things like that, he would go into stores, listen to the machinery run, use a lit cigarette to see if the air draw was working, etc.

I commend you on your fascination with refrigeration, perhaps you have missed your calling, perhaps you should see if you could get into a trade school and study. Dad would never teach any new employee, some of it was job security, some of it he figured if you held a union card you better know already the basics of what to do. Most northern areas are union and you have to have the schooling.

I too would suggest that you not get too close and personal snooping around like that, there are too many thefts in convenience stores. I believe though that the store is at fault for not having had the manager confront you in the first place if he was on the premises, underlings, unless an assistant manager, or security have no right to do this. I believe in a lot of states now they can have you arrested if you put merchandise on your person before you even leave the store; at one time you had to be outside the doors with the property before they could arrest a person for shoplifting. You do not need something like this on your record, or heaven forbid you were arrested, what would your dad do, esp if he is driving a load.

People do not understand the odd quirks of someone with autism (aspberger's), the fascination with one thing that holds their interest. You now know I hope to avoid this type of action in the future. Just remember you put both of you at risk.

They cannot accuse anyone of stealing unless that person pasts by the point of sale "cash register." Even if you took a pepsi from the fridge and put it in your pocket they could not say anything to you unless you tried to walk out the door.

The only time you would catch me doing some #### like that is if I'm getting a small bottle of milk and the cooler temp seems a bit warm so I'll look around for a thermometer. I only do it so I don't run the risk of getting sick from spoiled milk. But d**n dude, reading the HVAC info on a live cooler? You couldn't wait and go to Home Depot of some #### and look at it on their products? Yea, I'd say a bit strange too but I wouldn't go that far unless I actually saw you steal something.
