Was I wrong for quitting US Xpress?

I've met several trainers and none of them drive at all, the lazy bastids.

Maybe things were different a year ago. It's weird someone would be doing it for the money since they don't pay all that much. Already looked into it and rejected it.

 

Why work for a bottom feeder when you don't have to?!

 

I have to agree with 'gravelhauler'. You're gonna have to deal with the sheit until you get that all important experience. Bus rides do suck. Spending the night in a bus station would be even worse. A question... Were you supposed to spend the night at the bus station (10 - 12 hours) or was it a layover kinda thing? As for Swift.... You shoulda rode the bus.

 

Would you allow them to molest you too or is that where you would draw the line hornet?

Kudos to the OP for having the balls to saying NO! Could you imagine ANY employer telling you to sleep in a bus station....

If that's the way they treat people that they are bringing in for orientation can you imagine how the employees are treated!

 

My point isn't that people should choose to work for mega carriers. My point is that if you have been knocking on doors and a mega carrier is the only one to open their door then there is nothing wrong with taking that job. You are going in with the mindset to use their training and equipment for your own benefit so understand that they are going into it with the objective to use you as well.

I have seen complaints about the Richmond terminal. From one guy. Check the Swift forums for real, current information from people going through training right now. There are plenty of them there. Of course, most of them "forget" to post after getting on their trainers' trucks because they are busy. And tired.

I will not candy coat this or any other company. They all have their brand of BS. You just have to decide whether that particular flavor is tolerable or not. Apparently, USX's was not. Nothing wrong with an adult making an adult decision.

You may come to the same conclusion about Swift. I won't fault you for it if you do. But keep in mind, 90% of the Swift hecklers have never worked for the company. They heard that their girlfriend's coworker's best friend's brother's buddy got screwed by Swift and therefore created an opinion.

 

lost trucker it depends on the person. for me it is my life. if i didnt like to truck, i would get out of it.
