This is a classic example of what dash cams are for, as you were the victim of the classic "brake check" for daring to inconvenience someone.
FedEx sucks, and this is WHY they suck.
Was terminated for this accident.

How is hitting a deer preventable in any stretch of the imagination? Our company will terminate you if you swerve to miss one. They say no swerving just hit it. Of course reduce speed if possiblelagbrosdetmi and slim shady Thank this.

One of the problems with this industry today is they have more reasons to get rid of you than trying to keep you I was canned from ryder for saying the wrong thing within earshot of the wrong person.that person called on me and ryder fired me for racial intimidation all I was doing was repeating something I heard on the cb the day before.74,000 dollar a year job was the almost 5 years no accidents no violations called off sick once cause I was actually sick customer would call me on my day off in an emergency I would go and take care or it.fired just like that.so at least you hit something dude.
Toomanybikes and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
But fired you at the drop of a hat. im sure they had a reason to get rid of you.

At ryder a policy is a policy that is what I was told and that is the gods honest truth.some person in Miami made that call made my boss in michigan fire me .so I was fired by a person I had never met.Been driving for 24 years now without a scratch.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
The no swerve policy is excessive. There is a certain amount you can manuver at various speeds, but it is NOT for newbies. For me to horse a truck around at anything between 5 and 65 plus, I know what to expect and what room I will need to catch her. Too many times Ive come up on something and make a choice. If it is a large dog, take him out. (Ive done it... the problem becomes gore and bone removal that takes a while... my first one was in a texas rain storm that gave me 30 miles before the blood stopped coming off all my wheels and frames. It also cleared the traffic instantly when they realized I made a kill rather than swerve.
If I had a no swerve policy in Akron and 3 children looking at me about to be smashed when I crush their SUV inside a walled construction, Im going to throw that silly policy out the window and bounce that big ##### into the hammer lane to save lives. Ive had to do it a few times.
That is my position anyhow.
On second thought if that is what companies are doing theses days, then Im not hireable. Too old, too headstrong and so forth... -
Yeah drivers are in demand I was unemployed about four hours literally.Came home filled out five apps all five called within four hours took the one that sounded the best.was at an orientation within three days kinda took the first thing that came along .but I have a family and motgage.

You want to retire that mortgage asap. All debts too where possible. We had a house and lands with a 15 year note, it was paid in 6. The freedom afforded with no debt in the first ten years allowed us to spend triple that amount rebuilding the place to code and harden it against storms etc. Plus maintain 10K or more in savings against problems in trucking. 9-11 was the for us the ultimate problem when the people who cut our payroll were destroyed.

Safety will tell you that you should have been driving at a speed in which you have time to react AND STOP within the distance of your headlights. They aren't wrong.Tonythetruckerdude, spyder7723, RollingRecaps and 1 other person Thank this.
