I have occationly been approached by beggars. I never give money. But I will offer them some of my food and water. Most want money, but some seem grateful for food. That makes me feel good.

In my school there were a number of deaf in every class by percentage who will never be able to function in society as most people do. And when you have the so called workshops or other situation where they are turned into beggers or source of income that does not really benefit them directly it's a problem.
It's a complete langauge just like english, German etc. Just requires either a ASL on the chinese syntax to convey a great deal of information extremely fast or the Galludet System which was the foundation of American Signed English from before we were America.
Sign Language was once a restricted trade language provided to deaf dating to Medieval times just enough for them to work in menial tasks in near-slave conditions without a free will or enough language or education to break free and live your own life as you will. Galludet and LeCleric took the entire langauge, came to America and through a system of deaf schooling managed to break the chains of that kind of servitude.
It was not until the late 60's where the so called deaf and dumb were able to gain freedoms to function as free citizens, particularly with licenses to drive etc. Much less licensing to drive big trucks.
Little wonder then how it goes when you come across something like that. -

Don't worry about asking if you did not know, you will be told it's 60 for 20 minutes up front. At least that was what was said and whatever you say or do once you are told that determines the rest of the situation. Most of the time a no thank you im married etc is no problem they go to some other truck.
Most of the time you are not approached in person. You would have contact via the radio using the term company or commercial. The problem with that is it's easy for the law to run a sting and catch drivers engaging in that sort of thing.
Today's internet must offer opportunities which I think is beyond my understanding. Frankly it's not something good to be doing anyhow.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
