KT, what are you looking into an Argosy for? Just wondering, because I run a COE, coast to coast, and wonder why someone else would want to run one.
As far as the OR/WA garbage, I turn down loads all the time because of that crap. And another scam is friggin Florida. Any truck over 50' requires a over-length permit?!?!? Who the hell runs a 48' trailer anymore? Unless you run doubles you gotta pay this money grabbing scam.

We have a house contract with a company that builds busses that are right at 23.5' no matter what I do with a high mount lowboy, you can only haul two at a time, yes I can pickup some slack with a small car at times, but it never really works the way I would like it to, and you are always subject to different states overhang rules.
With a long WB Argosy and a stinger trailer I am able to load one bus on the truck and two on the trailer, and because of grandfathered stinger laws I would be legal in EVERY state, including WA.
It would be a totally custom build rig, and I'm sure it would not pay if you didn't have access to the volume that I do, but for me, it would be a killer setup. But it has to be Cali. legal, because we run a lot of miles out there and with 9 trucks in the fleet and not being able to claim poverty, I don't fall into any of CARB's exemption categories.

Hey Stan, Call Rubens in Rancho Cucamonga,CA. He built a totally custom truck carrier with an argosy for a friend of mine 12 years ago to haul commercial service trucks. He has since changed the truck under that setup and its beautiful and bulletproof. he can get four units on with this set up.

Stan,why not buy A Paccar?
With the $ being high,you could get a COE for a very nice price.
And the Paccar has the same engine as the US version.(EPA10=EURO 6)
Parts should fit.
Also Paccar has cab parts for those cabs in the USA,they use those cabs for special trucks.
And you could get it with a extreem low chassis,the Europeans are specialised in that.
Just a idea.

LOL, if not poverty, at least mental instability.
I have ask EVERY truck manufacture that builds trucks in this country (and some that don't) so far, nobody has an answer, I had been up my Freightliner and Kenworth dealers ##### for over a year now, no dice,
Kenworth tells me the only COE is that little midrange truck, only bringing DAF cab in as K500 VERY limited.
Petebilt DOES build the 320, but NO sleeper, VERY limited on power, and they hang all of the emissions crap on the back of the cab.
Navistar, has a VERY nice COE in South America, and it is left hand drive, no coming here.
Volvo, has some COE's that would be perfect for us, rep said they will not bring any into this country because their dealer/parts network can not/ will/ not support it.
Hyundai, also has a VERY nice new left hand drive COE, but not coming here.
Ford, Cargo has been completely redesigned for the SA market, left hand drive, not coming here.
CCC, (Crane Carriers Corp), will build me a Emissions COE, but again, no sleeper, and not much in driver comfort.
Mack, Municipal (garbage truck) again, no sleeper, not big hp, and packaging is a problem (emissions)
Proton, (Chinese), may come here at some point, but it's a ways off, also no support.
Scania, same as above, maybe some day, no support.
Auto Car, no sleeper, poor configuration for OTR and limited hp.
Freightliner, Argosy available as glider only, no emissions, and it is just too expensive and a maintenance nightmare to get that truck recerted for emissions, (but this is still the leading candidate, I am looking at a dual fuel setup right now)
Western Star, has nothing available, although I did look at and really like their 4700 series with only a 110 BBC, but no sleeper available on that truck (odd) and it would still be too long.
I have done my homework, and have untold hours/days/weeks/months into this, but as of right now, it just isn't happening.

I looked into it, to me, for what you get, and the life of the unit, it's a waste of time/money, I was quoted by three "shops" a price of anywhere between 18-24,000 the other issue is that with my 2010 trucks DPF's have to be cleaned every 300,000 miles, at a cost of around 1500.00 per truck (that includes labor clamps etc) on the Argosy, since it would not have egr or scr they are telling me every 50,000 miles, or in our terms every other oil change, we average 160,000 per year per truck, the cost and the downtime would kill all of the additional income generated, not to mention, may also shorten life/efficiency of the rebuilt glider engine.
