Reckon someones pet tore up a truck then. Most companies don't make a move like that unless a dog or something tore up a truck. My company doesnt care if you have a dog, as long as it is small. Hope you can find a place that will accept your pet.

Since you brought it up, do you mind me asking why you got fired?

Have you seen what dog hair does to an A/C unit inside the truck? Also have you thought about the person(s) that will drive that truck after you when you trade up,quit ect. Not everybody wants to ride in a truck with dog hair lingering around long after you have been out of the truck. Should you have been fired for your dogs sake NO. If your pet means that much to you buy your own truck.

Yeah, dog hair is a problem and so is that animal smell. But people are animals too and there are ways to clean up a truck. I think the loneliness of driving long haul is intense and some allowances should be made within reason. BTW, I don't have, and never have had any pets except a few guppies in a tank when I was a kid.

the people who are around their dog are use to the smell, or they're convinced that their dog doesn't stink. some folks think more of their dog than they do in being employed.

I love pets, and when I am on the road I miss mine as much as I miss the people I love.

I don't know where I stand on the issue of pets in a trucks. I can see both sides of the argument. The other day, I was at a shippers waiting to be loaded, there was a truck ahead of me being loaded and another truck pulled up. Well, we were being loaded inside and the weather was not to bad. The last guy that pulled up had a dog, and just let it run around. t was annoying for the guys on the fork lifts and then, the dog jumped up into the other guys truck was checking out the inside. Fortuntely he didn't pee or mark his territory, but he almost did.
This is not the dogs fault, it is the owner. I have seen owners out here with dogs who don't just let them run around and get into other trucks or get in the way, either the dog is well trained or on a leash.

So, I guess that is the problem, not all dog ownes are responsible dog owners. I wouldn't wan to get assigned a truck where a pet has been allowed to pee in it, or one where the driver pee'd in it. I also strongly feel that if you ar goin to have your pet with you, you have tobe respectful and responsible and clean up after your dog, don't let the dog just run around and get in the way of fork lifts and trucks, and have your truck professionally cleaned before your turn it in. Not just vacuumed, but shampoo the carpets and have the whole inside washed. Some people are alergic to pets.

The OP didn't give the actual reason why he was fired. I can't see the reason on his DAC saying 'pet owner'. If Celadon decided they didn't want any pets in trucks anymore, even 'grandfathered' ones, wouldn't they have simply told their drivers that? Why just get rid of a good driver without giving him a choice?

Then again, stranger things have been known to happen.

i'm not an expert at all this but if i had to guess, with them fighting to not give unemployment 2 this driver, they prolly saying poor job performance or something like that. they have ways around all this. we all know it... i wish u luck with it. as for having the pet, i think the only way u will b able 2 have one and not worry about the company not caring will b by owning ur own truck. again, I wish u luck

Celadon did the same to me. Its cause their little Black man that is in charge of giving out trucks is scared of dogs. He tried to get up and inspect my truck with out telling me and my dog let him know that he wasn't allowed in the truck without letting me know. Yeah it was funny to watch him falling backwards and trying to shut the door on the way down. But he could've asked anyone in the shop and they would've told him cause they all knew and had played with my dog. He was as you say a dumb #####!!! I didn't get fired they told me he couldn't ride with me anymore, and I raised hell. so he never tried to get in my truck again but thats when they changed pet policy.
