I bought a Wilson 2000 off Craigslist that was in like new condition. The antenna works great, but, after running in weather, the housing has water in it. I'm assuming this probably isn't good for it. My thought is to drill a hole in the bottom and drain it, then blast some WD40 in there to displace any remaining moisture.

Anybody have any thoughts on this? I'm sure the water can't be helping the SWR, not to mention the corrosion that will most likely take place.

Seems that might be an older one if i remember correctly...Just find ways to seal it up once you get it all dried out...Stuff called coax seal will work..

The Chinese ones aren't as watertight as the older American ones. Drilling a hole in the bottom might be the only option.
The water needs to be removed.

Thanks for the advice. I'll drill a hole, get the water out of it and reseal it. It sucks that quality isn't at the top of the list anymore.

Drilled holes in my pair one week after buying in 2014. They’re fine now.

On the bright side, it upgraded itself to a water-cooled antenna. ;)

It's only a mater of time before it's done...IT WILL SHORT-OUT!...just a mater-of-time now...The 5000 isn't any better by the way...Here's the insides of a Wilson 5000 that got water in it, and shorted out.

sealing it up at this point may only aggravate a already bad situation, since sealing it up will trap the water that's inside from getting out...

still not going to be able to get completely dried out...unless he takes it apart...I had to use a dremel tool to open mine up.
