    Minus, your killing me here!!!:biggrin_25510:
here is what i think, and i may be wrong, and some may or may not agree with what im going to say here,
but with you huge concern about getting more training after 6 MONTHS OF SCHOOL is a good thing yes!, but you making more of it then what it really is,
the things u n i talked about with my previous postition is NOTHING like what you are going to do here as an OTR, yes you are going to put in 11 hours driving here, or swift or tmc or even us.xps, thats part of the job requirements,
10 days go by faster then you think,
you learn the laws and rules in an easier way then All State told you, specially all the ##### dave told you.
and even tho the 10 days is not paid, they put you up in a hotel for 10 days, give you a car to use, they put gas in it, and they pay you back up to 20$ a day for food during your 10 days, youll learn how to throw chains on the tires, how to do a log book the real way, not All States way, how to slide your tandoms to adjust your weight, your going to get a book on kingpin settings for every state, and rally Cali is the only state you need to make sure your kingpin is just right, there is no way any driver can tell you what there pay is going to be like, cause it all depends on how many miles you have pushed for the week. and many other reasons, its never the same for any driver.
Im tellin you once you get here and start driving youll wish you had gone to there 30 day school, not the the 6 months we both did down there,
if you dont drive you can take Amtrak for 65$ each way in about 45 mins and be here, or take SEPTA and NJ Transit and be here in 3 hours, i did it for 9 months, i always took amtrack cause it was way fastr and a lot nicr of a ride too.
drive the truck home if you have too, its only 75 miles from nj to philly, but only if you have a place to park it thats safe.
Watkins Shepard will not hire you if they feel as tho you are not ready to handle this all on your own, and the one really nice thing about this company is that youll have more phone numbers then youll no what to do with them. youll always be able to get a hold of someone here 24/7.
dont worry about anything, ull be fine, come winter driving out west, if they put the chain law in effect, go park and wait it out for a few hours till they get the rd open, all u have to do is call them and tell them your not ready to drive in the amount of snow, they'll be mad but they be glad all 18wheels are still on the ground.
if you think you need more then 6 months of training, by all means go and work for a company and get a nother 3 months of trainning in, honestly i think you can nevet get enought training, im just doing it as i go along, and as an old timer trucker said to me not to long ago " The Day You Stop Learning Is the Day You Need To Get Out Of A Truck " cause you never stop learning, unless your a " Super Trucker " :biggrin_25512:
The one owner of the company is head of the American Trucking Accossiation, ATA, they are not hiring anyone not cut out for the job. that just would not look good for him.

I'm not killing you man...:biggrin_25525:...i just worry alot that's all and i try to get as much info as i can...and i was thinking about that yesterday about me being in school for 6 months compared to almost any other school that's 2 weeks...i should be ahead of everyone else when i go there...just so you know..."i am going there!"...the recruiter i been talking to was a lady named Sandy...we been talking on the phone and emails for the past couple days...she is out in montana i think...because when i applied...i did it online...so once i take my test and pass next week!...i'll have my CDL in my hand and i'll call her again...give her ya name and everything...say we been talking the whole time...stuff like that...but yo...we need to exchange numbers...because we gone be "co workers"...:biggrin_25515:...lol...mail me...

I graduate tomorrw!...perfect attendance for 6 months...never late...never left early...GPA like 90...but i the best task now if passing my CDL...i want it done on the first time...

Minus your right, im still breathing :biggrin_25525:, and you def have the right attitude about passing the test, i hope you get the old man Joe, short littl white guy, he's pretty good, just dont sweat the whole test to much, i no its a nervuse day and everything, but u just have to remain calim the whole time, once you get started youll feel better, just remember to take your time, the test is not timed you can take as long as you want.
im glad to hear that youlll be comming here, if you dont like then you can kill me :biggrin_2553:
Nj is where you would go for the 10 day drill, youll have a good time here, tha trainer up here is a really good guy, and befor your even done the 10 days he's on the computer and on the phone hunting down a truck for you, and if the only truck is down in Ga, then'll they will put you in a truck with a nother driver and send you and that driver down there to pick it up, then they will route you to through your house so you get all of the stuff you couldnt fit before.
minus your making the right choice here. ill give you my # once your officially hired on to the company, and youll be able to call me whenever and ill TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY
oh, did i mention ill TRY and help u out.

Aight mna...i took my road final today...i got a 95.6 on it...it was 2 things i did wrong...1. when i was pulled over on i-95 and they ask..."What would you do if you was broke down?"...well when i pulled off i moved into the lane and started shifting up instead of shifting on the shoulder of the road until my speed picked up and then came over...2. when i made that right turn coming pass UPS getting on 4th ave...i stayed in the left lane to much before i came back over...but i did that so i wouldn't hit the curb...it's raining here and it was kinda hard to see the curbs when turning...but i still passed...and still got a A on the test...what's the process in doing regional?...is it a time limit you must work for the company to change over if i wanted too?...also...do they do reefer?...i know they do flatbed too...but when i do my 10 days...will they give me a option to do reefer...van or flatbed?...and it seems like they only have volvos there at Watkins...is that true?...

I'll help you out here a bit. Regional is tight right now. Drivers with seniority are getting first shots. Maybe when it picks back up, you can go regional.

S2B seems happy to me in his new OTR position. Can't blame him, especially at his age ;)

You'll do vans to start. You will see an occasional reefer, when pulling beer loads that are going into colder areas. We're not doing produce.....yet. Thank God.

But that may change too, if things do not pick up on the dry freight.

Flatbeds...I think you have to wait 6 months before transferring. It may be only 90 days. But I think it's 6 months. And you have to take a short training course, on load securement.

We have Volvos and FreightLiners. I prefer a Volvo myself. But choose to drive a Freightliner, due to the interior size :)
